Please note that, because of the interdisciplinary nature of CSSL, we are aware that it is unlikely that an applicant will have strong training in all of our areas of interest. Accordingly, a competitive applicant might have a strong background in only one of these areas and a demonstrable interest and aptitude for the others. For psychology applicants, some basic programming experience is highly recommended (the more the better), however you needn’t have double majored in psychology and computer science. For computer science applicants, we would hope that you are interested in applying CS methods to problems related to human behavior and psychology, but, similarly, you needn’t have advanced experience in these latter areas.

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking multiple outstanding postdoctoral candidates to join the Intelligent Information Systems Laboratory (http://iis.ist.psu.edu/) at the College of Information Sciences and Technology. The positions are available immediately. The projects involve research on #artificial_intelligence, big data analytics, and #machine_learning with applications in #health_informatics, sustainability, #social_informatics, etc.

Required skills for all positions include: A strong record of technical excellence and achievement as demonstrated through publications, software development and release, presentations at national and international meetings, and independent research in relevant disciplines. Experience in software development to empirically validate research hypotheses. Demonstrated strong written communication skills. Must be self-directed and have successful experience working in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented technical atmosphere, able and willing to contribute towards proposal writing and assisting in mentoring graduate and undergraduate research.
