We have had lots of pushback on our speculation that Wayne Broadhurst's murderer was released early from prison.

We aren't going to listen to any legal injunction when the truth matters.

The article is in The London Standard and it says:

"A man released from prison under the Government’s early release scheme has been charged with murder, it has been reported.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged over the offence in London.

He had previously been imprisoned for knife offences and was released due to prison overcrowding.

It is reportedly the most serious offence committed by a prisoner freed under the scheme."

An investigation into allegations that Sheffield Hallam University faced sustained pressure from China to shut down human rights research has been referred to counter-terrorism police.

China waged a two-year campaign of intimidation and harassment, including demands the university stop sensitive research by one of its professors into claims of forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the force has referred the investigation on because the "allegations fall under Section 3 of the National Security Act".

Section 3 of the act deals with "assisting a foreign intelligence service".

Post Office hero Bates lands seven-figure Horizon payout.

Sir Alan Bates, who led the fight for justice for victims of the Horizon IT scandal, has had his claim settled by the government more than 20 years after he began campaigning on the issue.

One source suggested that his final settlement may have been worth between £4m and £5m, implying that Sir Alan's claim could have been in the region of £10m, although those figures could not be corroborated on Tuesday morning.

A government spokesperson said: "We pay tribute to Sir Alan Bates for his long record of campaigning on behalf of victims and have now paid out over £1.2bn to more than 9,000 victims.

"We can confirm that Sir Alan's claim has reached the end of the scheme process and been settled."
