A landscape gardener is facing life in jail after a jury took less than 27 minutes to find him guilty of breaking the neck of his teacher lover when she threatened to leave him.
In harrowing testimony, filmed from her hospital bed in intensive care, Ms Burgess described hearing her spine crack and her body gradually becoming numb immediately afterwards.
Easom admitted causing the injury, which has left Ms Burgess a tetraplegic and needing round-the-clock care, but denied intending to cause her serious harm, telling police: 'I love Trudi more than life itself.'
However, a jury sitting at Preston Crown Court took less than half an hour to find coward Easom, who refused to give evidence in court, guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police have appealed for information after a man was charged with murdering two women and raping a third.
Simon Levy has been charged with murdering 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, from Colombia, who died on the Aylesbury Estate, south-east London, on 17 March, the Metropolitan Police said.
A police investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination was unable to determine a cause of death.
Levy, of Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, north London, was previously charged in September with murdering 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins who was found unresponsive in High Road, Tottenham, on 24 August.
He is also accused of grievous bodily harm with intent, non-fatal strangulation and two counts of rape against a third woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in Haringey, north London, on 21 January, police said.
The 40-year-old will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with Ms Valencia-Trujillo's murder.

Reports of a "board-level orchestrated coup" at the BBC are "complete nonsense", non-executive director Sir Robbie Gibb has told MPs.
Sir Robbie, whose position on the BBC board has been challenged by critics in recent weeks, was among senior leaders, including the broadcaster's chair, Samir Shah, to face questions from the Culture, Media and Sport committee about the current crisis.
The hearing took place in the wake of the fallout over the edit of a speech by US President Donald Trump, which prompted the resignation of the corporation's director-general and the chief executive of BBC News, and the threat of a lawsuit from the US president.

Rachel Reeves is set to slash tax-free saving pots in her Budget.
In a major blow to millions of hard-working savers, the Chancellor will significantly cut the annual £20,000 cash Isa tax-free allowance to £12,000, it emerged on Monday.
Reeves is expected to argue that the billions of pounds sitting in the savings accounts would generate better returns if it was invested in the riskier stock market.

Father Ted creator Graham Linehan has been cleared of harassment against a trans activist but guilty of criminal damage to their phone.
The 57-year-old comedy writer, who had faced trial at Westminster Magistrates' Court, denied both charges linked to posts made on social media and a confrontation at a conference in London in October 2024.
Summarising her judgment, District Judge Briony Clarke started by saying it was not for the court to pick sides in the debate about sex and gender identity.
She said she found Linehan was a "generally credible witness" and appeared to be "genuinely frank and honest", and that she was not satisfied his conduct amounted to harassment.

Schools across the UK were locked down this autumn as part of a state drill to tackle the threat of a new deadly virus.
Exercise Pegasus, which concluded last month and involved all major government departments, was the biggest pandemic simulation exercise the country has ever held.
Those participating in the drill were told a novel enterovirus had broken out on a fictional Island in southeast Asia before spreading across the world.
Unlike Covid-19, which disproportionately affected older age groups, the new virus was most lethal in the young. The virus, “EV-D68”, was said to cause respiratory failure, brain swelling and – in rare cases – paralysis in infants, children and teenagers.

Navy Chief says Britain 'Must prepare for war'!
As I am sure many of you know I have been an outspoken critic of our involvement in the completely needless Ukraine War. A war that would have been over with after a couple of weeks with minimal casualties. Alas, just like the Covid scam, they couldn't let…
