A top police officer took 'early retirement' in order to avoid a disciplinary hearing which found he had pursued a junior female colleague and texted her a picture of his penis.
Former chief superintendent Rob Cousen, who rose to become the commander of Greater Manchester Police's Tameside division, snubbed the disciplinary hearing held at the force's headquarters today.
At the hearing, it was concluded that he was guilty of gross misconduct and would have been sacked had he not retired a matter of hours before.

The UK and the US have agreed a deal to keep tariffs on UK pharmaceutical shipments into America at zero.
Under the agreement the UK will pay more for medicines through the NHS in return for a guarantee that US import taxes on pharmaceuticals made in the UK will remain at zero for three years.
This is the first time the amount that the NHS pays for medicines is due to increase in more than 20 years.

The police watchdog will today publish its report into the actions of officers during and after the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
The Independent Office for Police Misconduct (IOPC) has been investigating South Yorkshire Police since 2012.
It is the largest independent investigation into alleged police misconduct and criminality ever carried out in England and Wales.
Hillsborough remains to this day the worst disaster in British sporting history.

The government is set to announce plans to restrict the right to a jury trial in England and Wales in an attempt to turn around unprecedented backlogs and delays in justice.
David Lammy, the deputy prime minister and justice secretary, will lay out the proposals in Parliament later on Tuesday.
But he has insisted that juries would remain a "fundamental part of the criminal justice system".
It is not clear if the plan - which would end jury trials other than for most serious cases including murder - has been approved by Cabinet or retreated from.

The National Records of Scotland found that the country's population has reached a new high of 5.55 million - mostly down to overseas migrants moving to the country.
Births and fertility rate are at an all-time low, with it being the ninth year in a row there more deaths than births in 2024
1/3 of kids in Glasgow schools do not speak English as a first language.
Yet SNP are calling for more migration to Scotland.

16,499 people died by euthanasia in Canada in 2024, accounting for 5.1% of all deaths in the country.
According to the latest report on “medical assistance in dying” (MAiD) from Health Canada released at the end of last month, there was a 6.9% increase in state-assisted deaths in Canada in 2024.
In 2024, although assisted suicide is permitted, in which the person who wishes to end their own life self-administers the lethal substance, there was not a single case of assisted suicide. Instead, every single person who died under Canada’s MAiD programme died by euthanasia. In 2023, there were fewer than five instances of assisted suicide.
There have been a total of 76,475 instances of euthanasia and assisted suicide since they were made legal in Canada in 2016.
