Britons are being warned to wear face masks as the NHS faces a 'historic crisis' this winter amid looming strikes and record numbers of people in hospital with flu.
Amid the so-called 'flunami', the UK Health Security Agency says coverings 'continue to be a useful tool in limiting the spread respiratory viruses in some situations'.
They also say masks can protect the person wearing them from becoming infected with other respiratory viruses such as Covid-19 or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Netflix has agreed to buy the film and streaming businesses of Warner Bros Discovery for $72bn (£54bn) in a major Hollywood deal.
Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos said the streamer was "highly confident" it would receive the regulatory approval it needs and it was running "full speed" towards this.
He said that by combining the library of Warner Bros shows and movies with the streaming platform's series such as Stranger Things, "we can give audiences more of what they love and help define the next century of storytelling".
"Warner Bros have defined the last century of entertainment, and together we can define the next one," he said.

The police watchdog says it is investigating after a teenager who was tasered by an officer on a motorway was fatally hit by a car.
Logan Smith, 18, was being taken to hospital in an ambulance at about 11pm on Sunday when the vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder of the M5 in Somerset.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said the vehicle stopped on the northbound carriageway "due to the concerns of ambulance staff".
Mr Smith got out of the ambulance near the junction for Weston-super-Mare and "entered the live lanes of the motorway", the watchdog added.
Police were called and an officer arrived at the scene, with bodycam footage showing the officer discharging their Taser, causing the teenager to fall to the ground.
"Soon afterwards" Mr Smith was struck by a car travelling on the southbound carriageway, the IOPC said.

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy has suggested it could be beneficial for the UK to consider re-entering a customs union with the EU.
"It's self-evident that leaving the European Union badly damaged our economy, took us out of an important marketplace and created serious friction, that untruths were being peddled by those that thought exiting the EU would be a good thing," Mr Lammy told the News Agents podcast.
"And it's why every single day that I was foreign secretary, I returned to the subject of our relationship with the European Union."

Part of the Tower of London has been closed following reports of criminal damage to a display case containing the Imperial State Crown, part of the Crown Jewels.
Police said four protesters had been arrested following the incident just before 10am on Saturday.
They said it was reported that food had been thrown onto the case before two protesters left the scene.
Footage of the incident appears to show one demonstrator removing the large foil tray of apple crumble from a bag and slamming it against the glass.
Meanwhile, another pours a tub of bright yellow custard on the front of the case.
"Officers worked closely with City of London Police and security officers and four people have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They have taken into custody," officers said.
"The Tower has been closed to the public while the police investigation continues."
