A tranche of nearly 1,500 secret cables and memos concerning Lee Harvey Oswald’s 1963 assassination of John F Kennedy has been made public, including purported contacts with Soviet and Cuban embassies.
The documents detail how Oswald allegedly visited the Soviet embassy in Mexico City, contacted a KGB officer two months before the assassination itself and “professed to be a communist and an admirer of Castro”.
In 2017 Donald Trump had blocked the release of 100s of records after the FBI and CIA raised concerns but allowed others that cleared any suspected links the CIA might have had to the killing.
