قال عون بن عبد الله بن عتبة:
Abdullāh Ibn Awn Ibn ‘Utbah said:
كانوا يتواصون فيما بينهم بثلاثة أحرف:
They (the Salaf) used to advise between themselves with three words:
يكتب بها بعضهم إلى بعض:
Writing it among each other:
من عمل لله كفاه الله الناس
Whoever acted for Allāh, Allāh will suffice him (from people)
و من عمل لآخرته كفاه دنياه
And whoever work for his Akhirah, he will suffice him (in) his Dunya
و من أصلح سريرته أصلح الله علانيته.
And whoever rectifies (in) his secret, Allāh will rectify his apparent.

Al-Awaz’ī said:
«Bilal Ibn Sa’d used to do Ibaadh (that) we never heard anyone from the Ummah able to do, he used to have in every day and night thousand rakat».

Alī said:
جُعِلَتْ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ خَمْسُ فتن:
It was made for this Ummah five fitan
فتنة عامة
A general fitnah
ثم فتنة خاصة
Then a specific fitnah
ثم فتنة عامة
Then a general fitnah
ثم فتنة خاصة
Then a specific fitnah
ثُمَّ تَأْتِي الْفِتْنَةُ الْعَمْيَاءُ الصَّمَّاءُ (١) الْمُطْبِقَة، الَّتِي يَصِيرُ النَّاسُ فِيهَا كَالْأَنْعَامِ
Then there will come a fitnah blinding, deafening, closed (not able to leave) which people will turn into it like cattles.

«من أراد علم القبر فعليه بالأثر و من أراد علم الخبز فعليه بالرأي».

Abdullāh Ibn Aḥmad Ibn Shubyah said: I heard my father (He is from the Shụykh of Abī Dawud):
«Whoever wants the knowledge of Qabr (benefits him in his grave), then it is upon him the Athar and who wants the knowledge of the Khubz (the bread), then it is upon with ar-R’ay (merely opinion)».

Harim Ibn Hayyan used to say:
«No servant turns his heart to الله except that الله turned the hearts of the Muminīn toward them until he provides him their love and their mercy».

دعاء الصحابة عند رؤية الهلال
The Duā of the Sahabah When Seeing the Crescent

قال عبد الله بن هشام:
Abdullāh Ibn Hisham said:
كان أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ يتعلمون هذا الدعاء كما يتعلمون هذا الدعاء كما يتعلمون القرآن،
The Sahabah of the Rasullāh ﷺ used to teach this Duā like how they taught the Qur'ān
إذا دخل الشهر أو السنة:
if the month or year enter:
اللَّهُمَّ أَدْخِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ، وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ، وَالْإِسْلَامِ، وَجوار مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، وَرِضْوَانٍ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ
O الله enter it upon us with security, ‘Imān, safe, Islam and protect from Shaytan, and pleasure from الرحمن

قال أبو الدرداء:
Abū ad-Dardā said:
«ادْعُ اللَّهَ يَوْمَ سَرَّائِكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَسْتَجِيبُ لَكَ يَوْمَ ضَرَّائِكَ».
«Make duā to الله the day of your ease, perhaps he will answer you, the day of your hardship».

Five (things) Sahabah an-Nabī ﷺ were upon and at-Tabi’un in Ihsan (goodness)
لزوم الجماعة
Being close to al-Jam’āh
و اتباع السنة
And following the Sunnah
و عمارة المساجد
And facilitating al-Masijd
و تلاوة القرآن
And Tilwah al-Qur'ān
و الجهاد في سبيل الله
And Jihad in the path of الله

«ولما كان شعبان كالمقدمة لرمضان شرع فيه ما يشرع في رمضان من الصيام وقراءة القرآن ليحصل التأهب لتلقي رمضان وترتاض النفوس بذلك على طاعة الرحمن…».

Ibn Rajab said:
«When Shabān is like an introduction for Ramadhān, it should be started in it what is in Ramadhān from as-Siyam and Qirat al-Qur'ān to obtain readiness for greeting Ramadhān and exercising the souls with that for obedience of ar-Rahman…»

قال ابن رجب:
«أموالهم تقوية للضعيف والمسكين على صيام رمضان وقال سلمة بن كهيل: كان يقال شهر شعبان شهر القراء وكان حبيب بن أبي ثابت إذا دخل شعبان قال: هذا شهر القراء وكان عمرو بن قيس الملائي إذا دخل شعبان أغلق حانوته وتفرغ لقراءة القرآن».
«لطائف المعارف»
Ibn Rajab said:
«We have narrated with Isnad Da’īf on Anas (that) he said: «When Shabān entered he Muslimūn used to go the Masahif (plural of Mushaf) and read it, and take out their Zakāt to strength al-Faqir and al-Miskīn on Siyam (of) Ramadhān».
And Salamah Ibn Kuhayl said: «It used to be said that the Month of Shabān is the Month of al-Qu’rā (the reciters of al-Qur'ān».
And Habib Ibn Abī Thabīt used to say when Shabān entered:«This is the month of al-Qur’ā».
And ‘Amr Ibn Qays al-Mul’ā when Shabān enter closed his shop and freed (himself) for Qirat al-Qur'ān».

«It will come a time upon the people in which no one will be saved in it except the one who does duā like the duā of one drowning».
