👺 "Bitten by Bill Gates" held Exercise PEGASUS in the UK this fall—the country's largest pandemic simulation in nearly a decade and the first nationwide Level 1 emergency response exercise since COVID-19.

The exercise, which concluded last month, involved ministers, representatives from all devolved states, COBRA officials, and representatives from all major government departments. Participants encountered a fictitious new strain of enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), which emerged on the fictional island of Musiyana in Southeast Asia after a food festival.

Unlike COVID-19, the simulated virus killed primarily infants, children, and adolescents, causing respiratory failure, cerebral swelling (meningitis?), and sometimes paralysis. The three-stage exercise began in September with regional spread in Asia and escalated into a WHO-declared pandemic in October, with school closures, hospital overload, and Street protests over social distancing, then escalated in November into a nationwide lockdown, closure of nonessential businesses, travel bans, and fears of food shortages due to potential pig contamination.
While live participation in the PEGASUS exercise has concluded, critical work continues. Phase 4 (recovery) is planned for 2026.

A sperm donor in Europe fathered 197 children across 14 countries over ~17 years.
- Recently it was discovered that some of his sperm carried a DNA mutation in the TP53 gene, which is crucial for suppressing cancer.
