Simple design of a unique UAV!
A group of researchers at MIT has recently developed a software program to design UAVs in the institute's computer science and artificial intelligence lab. UAV design is not an easy process. Many variables should be considered during the design process, and the device should also maintain its balance well for a flight. Other things like maximum speed, controllability, and battery life should be considered as well. This is why the design process is almost always the same for different devices. For some applications, a variety of UAVs are required. For example, one that needs to fly at a higher level than other devices or carry a specific body must have a different design. Therefore, users can design and test various UAV models using the pre-compiled libraries in the software. After selecting the parts, the user will be able to input different parameters such as the price, weight, maximum load to carry, and battery life into the software. The software will then output the result along with the utility program, which can be used to control the device. The research team hopes that their software will be widely used in UAV design upon its official release in different areas such as delivery services and rescue drones. The software will soon be published under open source licenses.

⁉️۳ مورد از چالشهای پیشِ روی مهندسی
طبق تعریف مهندس به شخص مبتکری گفته میشود که توانایی حل مسائل را داشته باشد. مهندس در زمینههای مختلف مانند حمل و نقل، ساختمان، تجهیزات پزشکی و منابع انرژی به دنبال روشهای جهت بهبود زندگی انسانها است. در دنیای امروز که تغییرات با سرعت بالا رخ میدهد، با تقویت دانش و اطلاعات خود میتوانیم خودمان را با تغییرات ایجاد شده وفق دهیم، این موضوع برای دنیای مهندسی بیشتر صادق است. از اینرو 3 مورد از مهمترین چالشهای پیشروی مهندسی در دهههای آینده در این پست مورد بررسی قرار میگیرد.
1-بحران اقلیم
تغییرات اقلیم از موضوعات مهم جهت بررسی مهندسین است که از اثرات منفی آن جلوگیری شود. مشکلات تغییرات اقلیم امروزه بارزتر شده است. با مشاهدهی اتفاقاتی نظیر آتشسوزی کالیفرنیا در سال 2018، نتیجهگیری میشود که ما با دنیا، آنگونه که باید رفتار مناسبی نداشتهایم. در نتیجه مهندسین در جهت کمک به زمین میتوانند گامهای مهمی برداشته و در زمینهی کاهش آلودگی ناشی از کارخانهها و شرکتهای بزرگ، یافتن راهحلهای پایدار برای مسائل مربوط به انرژی و مسائل دیگر کمک قابل توجهی به زمین و انسانها ارائه دهند. در نتیجه نسل آیندهی مهندسی باید دغدغههای زیستمحیطی بالاتری نسبت به نسل گذشتهی خود داشته باشند. این موضوع اولین موضوع ذکر شده در چالشهای پیشروی مهندسی است، زیرا تنها بخشی از یک جامعه را تحتتاثیر خود قرار نمیدهد بلکه همهی ما با این موضوع و مسائل ناشی از آن مواجه خواهیم بود.
2- ایجاد آب شیرین و در دسترس
آب یکی از نیازهای اساسی انسان است و کمبود آب قابل شرب منجر به درصد مرگ و میر بالایی در سراسر جهان حتی نسبت به جنگ میشود. طبق آمار، بیشتر از 16 درصد جمعیت جهان به میزان کافی به آب شیرین دسترسی ندارند. در واقع مسئله نبودن آب در دسترس نیست، بلکه مسئله ایجاد کانالهایی جهت دسترسی مناطق مختلف به آب شیرین است. برخی کشورها دارای آب کافی هستند، اما در کشورهایی نظیر آفریقا و یا کشورهای خاورمیانه که با مشکل کمبود آب مواجه هستند، سوال اصلی این است که آبهای شیرین شدهی دریاها چگونه به آنها رسیده شود؟
3- پزشکی و بهبود مراقبتهای بهداشتی
پزشکی و مراقبتهای بهداشتی از دیگر مسائل پیشروی ما است. مهندسین در این زمینه با ساخت سیستمهای پردازش اطلاعات ژنتیکی، نقش مهمی را میتوانند ایفا کنند. همچنین در زمینهی تفاوت افراد در پاسخ به داروها و شیوههای درمان، درک و اطلاعات بیشتری لازم است. داروهای شخصی و استراتژیهایی جهت غلبه بر عفونتهای مقاوم به دارو از چالشهای مهم پیشروی مهندسین در دهههای آینده است.

With the rapid rate at which changes are taking place today, we all have to keep on our toes to stay ahead of the curve, which is especially true in the engineering world. To this end, here are 4 of the most significant challenges engineers can expect to face in the next decades.
1. The climate crisis
With climate change becoming a growing topic that demands immediate attention, engineers will have to up their game to help mitigate potential catastrophe. The problems of climate change are becoming ever more apparent, with scientists linking things like food shortages and even the 2018 California wildfires to the fact that we have not been treating our world as we should have been. Engineers will be at the forefront of this life-or-death struggle, be it by helping to offset pollution created by large companies and corporations, finding sustainable solutions to the energy problem, or ensuring future generations of engineers are more environmentally conscious than those who have come before. This is top of our list of the challenges engineers will face because it is not something that only affects a portion of society - it is something we will all have to deal with. Because we are all a part of the problem, it is only fair that we all become part of the solution.
2. Making water clean and accessible
Water remains one of our most pressing needs, and the shocking truth is that the lack of clean water causes more deaths worldwide than wars. According to statistics, more than 16% of the world’s population still does not have sufficient access to clean water every day. It is not that there is not enough water available – it is more a matter of how to channel the water where it is most needed. Some countries (like Canada) have it in abundance, while others (in Africa or the Middle East) never have enough. Then, there is the question of all the saltwater in the oceans, waiting to be desalinated.
3. Medicine and improving health care
Medicine and healthcare is another challenging area that is always going to be with us. Engineers have an open invitation when it comes to developing new systems of processing genetic information. More understanding is needed regarding how individuals differ in response to drugs and treatments. Personalized medicines and strategies for overcoming drug-resistant infections are just two of the many significant challenges for engineers to face in the next decade.

🎧 گوش دادن به موسیقی بدون استفاده از گوش!
شرکت علوم عصبی "نورالیک" در سال ۲۰۱۶ توسط ایلان ماسک و با هدف اتصال مغز انسان به کامپیوتر به منظور ایجاد «همزیستی با هوش مصنوعی» ایجاد شد. این شرکت در حال تولید تراشهای است که اجازه پخش مستقیم موسیقی در مغز را به فرد میدهد و ادعا میکند تراشه ای ساخته است که موجب می شود انسان بدون استفاده از گوش بتواند به موسیقی گوش دهد. طبق گفتههای ایلان ماسک، چنین قابلیتی با کاشت یک تراشه دو میلیمتری در مغز انسان امکان پذیر خواهد بود. ایلان ماسک بیان میکند که تکنولوژی فوق برای نخستین بار با تلاش برای دور زدن دستگاه شنوایی و پیام رسانی مستقیم به مغز وارد فاز پیشرفته میشود. پیش از این نیز شرکت نورالینک دست به آزمایشهایی حیوانی در این رابطه زده بود.
آقای ماسک همچنین اضافه کرده بود که این «همزیستی» در ابتدا برای مبتلایان به بیماریهای مغزی همچون پارکینسون استفاده می شود ولی هدف نهایی توانایی رقابت با هوش مصنوعی پیشرفته است. همچنین با استفاده از این قطعات الکترونیکی انسان قادر خواهد بود که سطح هورمونها را در مغز خود کنترل کرده و توانایی هایی نظیر کم کردن استرس و افزایش قدرت تصمیم گیری را در خود افزایش دهد.

Noralink is producing a chip that allows the direct distribution of music in the brain. The company claims that a chip makes humans listen to music without using the ears. Mr. Mask, who leads the company, argues that this is the first attempt to circumvent the auditory system and interact directly with the brain. The company has already conducted experiments on animals. Mr. Mask, head of Tesla, founded the company to connect the human brain to the computer to create coexistence with artificial intelligence. He said that such a capability would be possible by planting a 2 mm chip in the brain. Mr. Mask added that the symbiosis is initially meant to be used for patients with brain diseases such as Parkinson's disease, but the ultimate goal is to compete with advanced artificial intelligence. The director of Tesla's company says that these chips will enable humans to control hormone levels in their brains and help reduce stress and increase decision-making abilities.
