A German court sentences journalist to seven months in prison on probation for posting a satirical meme that shows Interior Minister Nancy Faeser holding a fake sign: "I hate freedom of speech."

The journalist's name is David Bendels, editor-in-chief of the "Deutschland-Kurier". He did not have a previous criminal record,

Faeser filed a criminal complaint in person. The prosecutor's office filed charges. And the court ruled: this is not an opinion, this is slander of a public politician - a crime according to §188 StGB, popularly also referred to as the "Majesty defamation paragraph". The law was tightened four years ago.
