DEMOCRATS CUT WEEKLY UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FROM $400 TO $300, BUT EXEMPT $10,200 IN 2020 FROM FEDERAL TAX
The amendment would extend $300 weekly unemployment payments through September. The original House bill would have sent $400 per week through August. In addition, Senate Democrats agreed to tax forgiveness for up to $10,200 in unemployment benefits paid in 2020.

If signed into law, this would provide some tax relief on federal taxes owed, as up to $10,200 would be exempt. [ Article ]

BIDEN OPEN BORDER POLICY: SUPREME COURT DISMISSES ‘SANCTUARY CITY’ CASES AT BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S REQUEST
In 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that called on U.S. agencies to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities to crackdown on illegal immigration. The order made federal money conditional upon giving U.S. immigration officials a heads up when illegal immigrants were being released from jail. 

After taking office, Biden rescinded Trump’s 2017 executive order effectively making these 3 cases moot.

PFIZER CEO'S ISRAEL VISIT CANCELLED BECAUSE HE'S UNVACCINATED
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla has cancelled his expected visit to Israel, after it turned out he was not vaccinated against coronavirus. The report noted that Bourla, as well as members of the delegation that were meant to accompany him during his visit, have not received the 2nd dose of the vaccine.

Bourla also made headlines last week in an NBC interview when he referred to Israel as the "world's lab" when it comes to coronavirus vaccine rollout.   [ Source ]

SENATE PASSES $1.9 TRILLION COVID RELIEF BILL, WITH NO REPUBLICAN SUPPORT
Senate Democrats used a special process called reconciliation tied to the budget to pass the package without any GOP support. The process allows them to pass legislation with just a simple majority, rather than the 60 votes most bills require. Legislation overview:
▪︎ $1,400 checks for individuals making less than $75k annually
▪︎Raises the $2,000 Child Tax Credit to $3,000
▪︎No Increased Minimum Wage
▪︎Reduces unemployment benefits from $400 to $300/week, but allows ~$10k in tax forgiveness in 2020
▪︎Allocates $8.75 billion to public-health agencies for distributing, administering, and tracking vaccinations
▪︎$25 billion for testing, contact tracing, and hospital reimbursment
▪︎$3 billion to create a national stockpile of vaccines
▪︎$20 billion for federal biomedical research for vaccines & therapies
