🇺🇸🇪🇺❌🇺🇦The United States believes that the decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO depends on all participating countries
White House press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said that the United States is "now focused on supporting Ukraine's efforts" in the military sphere.
The decision on Ukraine's possible entry into NATO depends on all the member countries of the alliance. This was stated on Thursday at a regular briefing for journalists by White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre.
She was asked how American President Joe Biden feels about the proposal for Ukraine to join the alliance. "Our position on the issue of [new members] joining NATO is quite clear. We have been supporting NATO's open door policy for decades. Any decision on membership is made by NATO allies and countries seeking to join NATO," the spokeswoman stressed.
According to her, the United States is "now focused on supporting Ukraine's efforts" in the military sphere. "We are focused on making sure that the Ukrainian people have everything they need to fight for their freedom," Jean-Pierre argued. She added that the Washington administration will continue to provide economic and military assistance to Kiev.
On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the West is focused on practical steps that are needed to ensure that Ukraine meets NATO standards. At the same time, he stressed that attention should now be focused "on the coming weeks and months, especially given that Ukraine is preparing for a counteroffensive." On the same day, British Foreign Minister James Cleverley, in an interview with Politico, said that Ukraine's accession to NATO is not a priority at the moment.

Kirby responded by saying, “Do you know who was in charge of these armaments? Afghans. And why? Because it was their weapon."

🇾🇪Yemeni authorities and the Houthis ruling in the north of the country, brokered by Oman, have agreed to extend the truce for six months, a Yemeni source told RIA Novosti.
The previous truce expired in October 20222, but then the parties failed to extend it due to the Houthis' demand to allocate part of the money from oil and gas revenues to them.
According to the source, the new deal includes additional conditions: opening new routes from the airport of Yemen's capital Sanaa, lifting restrictions on the passage of ships to the port of Hodeidah and unblocking roads. It has also been agreed that civil servants throughout Yemen will be paid from energy export revenues.
It is expected that a political settlement process under UN auspices will be launched in Yemen once a new ceasefire begins.
