2019 July - YouTubers are transitioning to TeeVeee.com

Hey guys, just wanted to raise awareness for TeeVeee.com that launched last month. There’s already a significant number of larger YT channels preparing to release new videos next week on TeeVeee instead of YT. You should take a look and sign up for a free account and spread the word.

TeeVeee works by charging viewers $1 for 100 Video Credits. They have eliminated advertisers and will never demonetize anyone.
They take 90% of the revenue and send it directly to the video creator through PayPal, paid out every day. This system is set up to pay $1600 per 100k views or ($16 cpm)

I’ve already moved some of my videos over and some larger channels you may recognize have begun to as well.

2019 August - BrawlBRSTMs3 X video game soundtracks channel with 562K subscribers deleted for copyright infringement

Today the DeoxysPrime YouTube channel made a community post which sums things up quite well.
(source: [YouTube.com](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCubokaJqWnfPdVpFw_G_Q2w/community?lb=UgzuDHDxjtnQ-LtoYcF4AaABCQ) - I cannot get Archive.org to save it without "read more" breaking, but the post content is in the HTML source [here](https://web.archive.org/web/20190814134933/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCubokaJqWnfPdVpFw_G_Q2w/community?lb=UgzuDHDxjtnQ-LtoYcF4AaABCQ&disable_polymer=1) (Ctrl+U) if needed)

>For those of you who may not know, the BrawlBRSTMs3 X channel, one of (if not the) largest music channels on YouTube, was taken down today, as well as GilvaSunner's channel having a large number of his videos being blocked by Nintendo. There's been a lot of speculation and concern about how Nintendo has been handling their music appearing on this platform, and today might be a good indication of where they're headed with it.

>Currently, none of the videos on my channel have been affected by this. I have received no notices about any of my videos being blocked, though obviously this could change at any moment. For the time being, however, I will be keeping the Nintendo music I have on my channel available to everyone until I believe I have reason to do otherwise, though I will likely not be uploading any new Nintendo soundtracks for the foreseeable future (I still intend to upload others). Should anything change with my channel, I will likely upload a video addressing it.

If you go to [BrawlBRSTMs3 X's channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN2hyYKiVMH4Ka-TCuO_obw)...

>This account has been terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted.

For a better understanding of the channel's history, you can view [their community posts](https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN2hyYKiVMH4Ka-TCuO_obw/community). Notable posts are 15 May:

>We are removing all videos containing music owned by Nintendo, since they have finally begun to block their content on our channel. This is a fair warning, so we are acting accordingly to avoid copyright strikes. We don't want another situation like when Smash Ultimate was leaked 2 weeks early. We will no longer upload Nintendo content.

and 9 July:

>We'll slowly upload/reupload extensions of unofficial REMIXES, ONLY REMIXES to Nintendo songs. This is the first, but there will be more to come. Please hold your requests.

[GilvaSunner's channel](https://www.youtube.com/user/GilvaSunner) is still online. I'm not sure what damage has been done as YouTube doesn't list blocked videos.

2019 August - Namco looking into invalid Demonetization claims towards videos on Tekken videos + why I believe creators should look into leaving YouTube

[https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2019/aug/20/tekken-content-creators-youtube-facing-copyright-claims-game-music-katsuhiro-harada-and-michael-murray-respond/](https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2019/aug/20/tekken-content-creators-youtube-facing-copyright-claims-game-music-katsuhiro-harada-and-michael-murray-respond/)
@KingTomahawk has also accused an artist/group called "Standing Ovation Entertainment" of doing similar demonetization claims towards SoulCalibur videos over a song they made that "samples/remixes" a track from SoulCalibur, which Bandai Namco Nordic said they would look into on their Twitter: [https://twitter.com/KingTomahawk/status/1164183226140598272](https://twitter.com/KingTomahawk/status/1164183226140598272)

Said artist/group in question also appears to be signed to the label "CDBaby", which appears to be the same group responsible for this: [https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/smellyoctopus-youtube-copyright-claim/](https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/smellyoctopus-youtube-copyright-claim/)

This is yet another in a long line of examples of how errors in YouTube's automated Content ID system unfairly hurt smaller creators, and yet most of those creators stay at YouTube because they are concerned about losing viewers/revenue, and because they are under the impression that YouTube has a monopoly on video sharing sites.

A belief I personally find not true, as there are several different, albeit smaller websites that can be used to share and upload videos, such as **Twitch, Mixer, Bitchute, VLare, Vimeo, Dailymotion, PeerTube, DTube,** and **Internet Archive**.
Heck, even **PewDiePie**, a creator with one of the highest subscriber counts on YouTube, started streaming on a smaller website called **DLive**, as opposed to streaming on YouTube Live.

Not to mention, there are a fair amount of ways creators can build a fan base, keep them notified, and gain revenue for their work, such as **Notify.Me, Patreon, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee,** and **Liberapay,** among others.

Yes, I know, It's hard to deviate from what's familiar. But at the same time, I believe that even if creators don't leave don't want to leave YouTube outright, they should at least look into backing up their content on another website, so that way they don't have to worry as much about their work being censored for unjust reasons.

Although even with that, leaving YouTube should definitely remain a possibility for all creators, considering how little, if any, improvement YouTube has made to it's system and customer service over the past few years, even with all the incidents of videos/channels being removed for unfair reasons and the backlash YT has received because of it.

Things need to change, and I have a feeling that creators are going to have to change where and how they create videos before YouTube makes any positive changes of their own.

Too long, didn't read: YouTube has big problems, and it's creators should consider moving to other websites until YT fixes those problems, since I don't believe YT will fix them on it's own.

“Turns out a company from Ethiopia called DCT Entertainment Inc. filed a copyright takedown notice on a really old video of Sonic the Hedgehog that I did years ago. Why they did this? I don't know but I am getting in touch with my network to get this rescinded.”

“I actually tried to reach them and they said that in order to use the copyright, you have to pay for it. I call it blackmail and YouTube allows this.”

@TeamYouTube Two videos on my channel have been falsely claimed. Might you be able to look into these false manual copyright claims?”

If there are any YouTube creators reading this right now, I strongly advise you back up your videos as soon as you possibly can in case something like this happens to you.

2019 - August: JG Science was demonetised for months and wasn't notified why until recently. He was demonetised for repetitive content, but he had nothing repetitive, and called out other channels that repeated content that got away with it.
