The Struggle Within: The Three Types of Hearts
1️⃣ A Sound [Healthy] Heart [القلب السليم]: A heart devoted to Allāh alone. It:
❖ Loves, hopes, and relies on Allāh.
❖ Forgives others for His sake.
❖ Controls anger and desires for Him.
❖ Shows humility and kindness to all.
2️⃣ A Dead Heart [القلب الميت]: A heart enslaved to desires. It:
❖ Seeks only self-pleasure.
❖ A slave of its own desires.
❖ Chases wealth, even through ḥarām means.
❖ Lacks faith and sincerity.
3️⃣ A Sick Heart [القلب المريض]: A heart torn between truth and desires. It:
❖ Loves Allāh but also clings to worldly temptations.
❖ Has sincerity but at the same time, also loves the desires and prefers them.
📖 Lagāthatul Lahfān by Ibn Al-Qayyim
Action Plan: Read the following supplication:
اللهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ سُوْءٍ
“O Allāh purify my heart from every evil.”

Prepared by Delay, Blessed by Patience
“In life, we long and we plead for blessings we have not yet received, raising hands in sincere Du’ā for them.
But Allāh, in His perfect wisdom, withholds what we ask, not to hurt us, but because our hearts may not yet be ready to carry the weight of the blessing. Trust in His Decree.
What is delayed is not denied; it is being prepared for you, and you are being prepared for it.”

Trust the Qadr [Decree] of Allāh
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said:
"Be pleased with everything that Allāh does with you. For indeed He does not prevent you except to give you. He does not test you except to protect and save you. He does not give you ill health except to cure you.”
Madārij as-Sālikīn [2/208]
“What we grieve over today may be the very thing that strengthens our faith tomorrow.
Trust the Qadr of Allāh, for He sees what we do not, knows what we cannot, and guides us even through what we fear.
Sometimes, the door that closes is His mercy shielding us, and the pain we feel is Him pulling us closer.”

How to Assess the State of Your Heart?
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Seek out your heart in three places:
[1] When listening to the Qur’ān,
[2] in the gatherings of [Allāh’s] remembrance [circles of knowledge], and
[3] when [alone] in privacy,
If you do not find it in these places, then ask Allāh to grant you a heart – for verily, you do not have one.” See Al-Fawā’id [p. 479]
Action plan:
- Read the Qur’ān for at least 20 minutes daily.
- Attend at least one Islamic class per week.
- Read the following supplications:
يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ
“O Turner of the hearts, affirm my heart upon Your religion.”
اللّٰهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ قَلْبِي وَعَمَلِي
“O Allāh rectify my heart and my action”

Death Knocks Without Warning
“Look at your situation in which you’re in; if it is suitable for death and the grave, then continue upon it. And if it is not suitable for both, then repent to Allāh, Exalted is He, and return to what is suitable!” [Ibn al-Jawzī - Bustān al-Wā‘iẓīn | 193]
“How many are looking forward to getting married? How many are looking forward to the birth of their child? How many are enjoying life as it unfolds? How many are indulging in meals and drinks like kings?
Yet we often forget the destroyer of all pleasures, death. None of the above was achieved because death came knocking at their door, while they may have had the next ten years planned out.
Death destroys all plans, so let us begin preparing for it now, starting with seeking forgiveness.”

Backbiting [Ghībah] The Worst Type of Generosity
Imām Ibn Taymīyyah said: "The worst type of generosity is being generous in gifting your good deeds to others due to backbiting, tale-carrying, lying, swearing and insulting [the believers]." See Majmū Fatāwa [8/303]
“Do not sit among those who tear into the flesh of the absent for Allāh likens backbiting to eating the dead meat of your brother.
Beware, for once they have feasted on another’s name, your name will be the next morsel in their mouth.
At the first whisper of backbiting, rise and leave, shield your deeds by refusing to feed on slander.”

What is Hasad [Envy] In Islām?
“To envy is to desire the removal of Allāh’s Blessings from their owner. This is the first level of envy.
The second level is to hope misfortune follows the servant.
On this level the envious one wishes that the object [the person] of their envy remains ignorant, poor, weak, and hopes that their heart is separated from Allāh.” - Imām Ibn Qayyim
See Hasad: A Condemnation of Envy and Envious People [pg. 16]
Action Plan:
- Say تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ - Tabārak Allāh - May Allāh bless you, when you see a blessing on another Muslim.
Mindset:
Love for your fellow Muslim what you love for yourself for the sake of Allāh.

Open the Qur’ān: Let Its Words Find You Where You Are
"The Qur'ān is the complete healing from every sickness of the heart and body and the Dunyā and the hereafter." See Zād al-Ma'ād [4/119] - Ibn Qayyim
“The Qur’ān never changes, yet every time you return to it, it speaks to you in a new way because you have changed.
For the lost, it is light. For the broken, it is healing. For the seeker, it is guidance. And for the one yearning for Jannah, it is the path that leads there.
Sometimes it awakens you with a warning, other times it soothes you with mercy but it always gives you exactly what your heart needs. Open it, and let it find you where you are in life.”

Waiting for the Next Reminder to Drop… While They Built the Ummah

True Success: Known Only to Allāh
"Don’t judge the success of your Da’wah by likes, shares, or followers. True success lies in whether it is accepted by Allāh.
Share authentic knowledge sincerely, even if unnoticed by others, for it is Allāh who rewards what is done for His sake and you may never know whose life He changes through your words.
Strive for His pleasure alone, for His acceptance outweighs the praise of all creation and transforms even the smallest act into an eternal treasure."

Earthquakes: Your Lord Is Warning You
Imām Ibn Al-Qayyim [d. 751H] said:
“Allāh sometimes gives the earth permission to breathe, which is when major earthquakes happen; this makes people feel scared, so they repent, give up sins, pray to Allāh and feel regret [for their sins].
When there had been an earthquake, some of the Salaf said: Your Lord is warning you.
When Medina was struck by an earthquake, ‘Umar Ibn Al-Khattāb addressed the people and said:
“If there is another earthquake, I will not stay here with you.”
See Miftah Dār Al-Sa’āda [1/221].
May Allāh protect the Muslims of Afghanistan. Over 1,400 killed by the recent earthquakes.

Hidden in History, Known to Allāh
Imām Ibnul Qayyim [D. 571H] said:
“Sincerity is to forget the creation seeing you because of continually looking towards the Creator."
Madārij as-Sālikīn [2/70]
“In this era of social media, we must remind ourselves: Throughout history, countless unknown believers carried Islām with sacrifice, knowledge, and bravery.
What united them was sincerity, the secret is whether we work for Allāh when no one is acknowledging, sharing, or following, or only when others recognise it.
So be warned, before each post, each deed, examine your heart; act in silence for Allāh alone, for His acceptance is the highest honour of every effort.”
