Almost two-thirds of teenagers globally have been targeted for “sextortion” schemes by criminals seeking to pressure them into sexual activity or extortion for money, according to a study by Snap Inc. As noted, the victims are usually contacted through social media, gaming sites and dating apps, and criminals can use methods, including inducements of gifts or money to encourage minors to send explicit images or videos.
