USA TODAY: ALARMING RISE IN EXCESS DEATHS IS A COMPLETE MYSTERY
According to life insurance actuaries, among working people 35 to 44 years old, 34% more died than expected in the last quarter of 2022. Other working age groups have experienced above average death rates too. These same actuaries say that COVID deaths do not “fully explain” this phenomenon.
And why did worker mortality suddenly spike in the fall of 2021 when COVID death rates were falling?
Similar actuarial trends have been observed in Australia and the UK. What is causing this spike in excess mortality among working age people? Where is the urgency to figure it out?

"Over the past 48 hours, a TikTok video has gone viral showing a distressed girl from Leeds being manhandled and taken away by police. In the clip, the child’s mother, who filmed and released the video, is heard arguing with the officers who have entered her home, pleading with them to leave her daughter alone, who she says is both autistic and suffers with scoliosis.
"The mother claims that her daughter said to one of the officers, a blonde woman with short hair, that she ‘looked like her lesbian nana’. ‘You’re going to remove her for what, she said the word lesbian? Her nana is a lesbian, she’s married to a woman. She’s not homophobic’, the mother says in the clip."

Is it a crime to call a police officer a lesbian?
The arrest of a 16-year-old autistic girl for a ‘homophobic public-order offence’ raises some troubling questions.

Kansas Cops Raid Small Marion County Record Newspaper, Seize Records and Devices, After it Reported On Local Business Owner
The entirety of Marion’s five-member police force and two sheriff deputies invaded the Marion County Record’s office last Friday, confiscating computers, cellphones, and other journalistic materials. The unanticipated blitz, in Kansas, spearheaded at Eric Meyer’s home as well as the newspaper’s premises simultaneously, has chillingly been called a clear assault on the free press, lending a profound sense of foreboding to the future of investigative journalism.
Initial intel points to the raid’s motivation as a confidential informant incriminated by a leak of “sensitive” documents to the newspaper. The newspaper’s publisher and owner, Eric Meyer, interprets this police action as a crystalline threat – abide by our rules, or face the muzzling consequences.
The ransacking of the newsroom is troubling to media advocates and leaves the newspaper on shaky operational grounding with an imminent weekly publication deadline.
This startling event follows stories from the newspaper detailing a local restaurateur, Kari Newell, chasing reporters from a meeting featuring US Rep. Jake LaTurner. Additionally, the newspaper exposed Newell for driving without a license and a history of DUI, and Newell complained saying that private information was leaked to the paper.
...The search warrant, signed by Marion County District Court Magistrate Judge Laura Viar, appears to violate federal law that provides protections against searching and seizing materials from journalists. The law requires law enforcement to subpoena materials instead. Viar didn’t respond to a request to comment for this story or explain why she would authorize a potentially illegal raid.
Emily Bradbury, executive director of the Kansas Press Association, said the police raid is unprecedented in Kansas.
“An attack on a newspaper office through an illegal search is not just an infringement on the rights of journalists but an assault on the very foundation of democracy and the public’s right to know,” Bradbury said. “This cannot be allowed to stand.”

"All it does is drain your car battery’s power, which is power you are going to have to put right back into that battery. And how exactly will the grid remain stable when millions of electric vehicle owners are all in a panic charging their cars at 6:30 a.m. so they can get to work?
"Worse still for electric vehicle owners, recharging your battery is what kills your battery, and once your battery is dead, it’s cheaper to buy a whole new car than to replace it."

🇫🇷 France to ban far-right party Civitas over anti-Semitic remarks.
Gerald Darmanin said in a tweet that he had asked the ministry "to proceed to the dissolution" of the party Civitas, "firmly" condemning anti-Semitic remarks made during its summer seminar last month.
"There is no room for anti-Semitism in our country," Darmanin said in his post.
"I firmly condemn these despicable comments and am taking the matter to the national prosecutor," he said.
At that meeting, on 30 July, polemicist Pierre Hillard told his audience that before the French Revolution of 1789, Jews and other religious minorities could not become French citizens because they were "heretics".
Hillard said that "maybe we should go back to how things were before 1789".
Several politicians and Jewish organisations also condemned the remarks.
Civitas, which claims to have 165,000 members, was recognised as a political party in 2016, and has been receiving public financing thanks to that decision.
Civitas backed far-right figure Eric Zemmour in last year's presidential election, fought against the legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2013 and is staunchly anti-immigration.
