With this new standard, it is intended to innovate in the functions that the different current communication devices can perform. And it is that working both at low and high frequency, this standard gives the possibility of detecting how long we move or even our respiratory rate.
The IEEE anticipates that the standard will arrive from 2024 , and together with the arrival of 'SENS' or 'WiFi Sensing' technology, it will allow Wi-Fi emitting devices, such as a router, to detect elements of the environment thanks to low-frequency emissions located in a range between 1 GHz and 7.125 GHz. In this way, the objects that interact with these waves can be identified by this type of network.
This standard will also work at frequencies above 45 GHz, so it could detect movements at close range, and even our breathing rate, since the technology is promised to have great precision.
