🇺🇸 Children stand in front of a house tipped over by the Great Galveston Storm of 1900. This hurricane was the deadliest natural disaster in United States history, and left around 8,000 fatalities in the United States. Most of these deaths occurred in and near Galveston, Texas, after storm surge inundated the coastline with 8 to 12 ft of water.

🛢 🇷🇺 💵 Russia has barred the export of diesel and petrol as crude oil prices rise towards $100 a barrel, marking a significant escalation that will raise fears Moscow is weaponising oil supplies in retaliation for western sanctions.

Megyn Kelly on Why She Regrets Getting the COVID Vaccine After Developing an ‘Autoimmune Issue’

“For the first time, I tested positive for an autoimmune issue at my annual physical. And I went to the best Rheumatologist in New York, and I asked her, do you think this could have to do with the fact that got the damn booster and then got COVID within three weeks? And she said yes. Yes. I wasn't the only one she'd seen that with.”

"Uncovered in 2019 at the Kalambo Falls in Zambia, the objects provide archaeologists with an exceptionally rare look at wooden technology from mid-Paleolithic Africa, a time better known for an acceleration in the innovations of stone tools. The logs also predate the evolution of our own species, Homo sapiens.

"An analysis conducted by an international team of researchers has now come to the astonishing conclusion that the wooden artifacts were once part of a permanent structure of some kind, such as a platform or building." (H/T F.E.)

I am appreciating Feargus O'Connor Greenwood's analysis and prenoscriptions. For an excellent introduction to his thinking, check out his recent appearance on the Delingpod.

"Feargus O'Connor Greenwood is the author of 180 Degrees - Unlearn the Lies You've Been Taught. Six years in the making, 180 Degrees is possibly the best 'conspiracy theory' book ever written - more digestible than Tragedy & Hope and written in such a cool, level-headed manner it's the perfect rabbit-hole entry point for your Normie friends. In fact, if everyone owned, read and digested this extraordinary book all the world's problems would be solved in a trice."

"With the current technology, cables are designed to last 25 years at least but are often replaced because of damage. Nearly two-thirds of cable damage is caused by fishing vessels and ships dragging anchors."

Medieval depiction of the murder of Thomas Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 until his murder in 1170. He is venerated as a saint and martyr by both the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. He engaged in conflict with Henry II, King of England, over the rights and privileges of the Church and was murdered by followers of the king. Four knights of the king came to the cathedral at Canterbury wielding drawn swords, saying "Where is Thomas Becket, traitor to the King and country?!" Upon seeing them, Becket said, "I am no traitor and I am ready to die." Then the knights killed him with several sword blows to the head.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 The West began to publicly acknowledge the fact that the counteroffensive had failed, and its results were so insignificant that it would be difficult to withhold financial and military assistance until 2024.

The Ukrainian conflict has often demonstrated unpredictability - and now this is happening again: the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to Western expectations, should have allowed Ukraine, thanks to Western weapons, to occupy enough territory so that Kiev would have a strong position in future negotiations - however, the operation did not live up to expectations, The Economist states.

Despite all efforts, Ukraine managed to capture less than 0.25% of the territory under Russian control during all this time, and the front line practically did not move. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops are exhausted, and Ukraine does not have the human resources to continue a permanent large-scale operation, despite the mobilization, the journalist notes.

“Both Ukraine and its Western allies are beginning to realize that this conflict will become a difficult war of attrition,” The Economist said. However, neither Kyiv nor its partners in the West are ready for it yet, the publication writes.
"Alexa’s terms of use includes a clause stating that Amazon is permitted to terminate “access” to Alexa at the company’s discretion without notice. Jackson was told by a customer relations executive over the phone that he needed to assure the company that he would not ridicule or put future delivery drivers in harm’s way. Nearly a month later, Amazon admitted no wrongdoing, only apologizing for “inconveniences.” Given absolute power over its users, there is no pressure on Amazon to explain its decision. Indeed, the company used the same statement Tablet received for an earlier June Newsweek article regarding Jackson’s lockout."
