"First, our (s)elected representatives sign us up to overarching, unaccountable, international bodies like the UN and the WHO. Then they appointed nameless/faceless bureaucrats to act as our unelected representatives at those bodies that sign us up to conventions and agreements that most of us don't even know exist. These conventions and agreements then "obligate" our national governments to take certain actions or to refrain from certain other actions. Finally, those same governments pass legislation that makes these pledges and targets and restrictions the law of our land.
But all this is "voluntary," you see? It's all above board. There's no global government—only global conventions that parties have agreed to abide by."

If you though the 'trans' Roman Emperor museum stunt was ridiculous, in the U.S. there's a museum whose T. rex skeleton 'came out' as nonbinary back in 2017, proudly announcing its pronouns were they/them.

TIL the phrase "Turn a blind eye" (willfully ignore information) originated from Admiral Lord Nelson in 1801, who used his injured eye to see through his telescope during the Battle of Copenhagen when he wished to ignore his commander's signals, which resulted in their victory.

As the investigation into damage to Baltic Sea critical infrastructure continues, Finland's Minister of European Affairs Anders Adlercreutz said it’s hard to believe sabotage to the undersea gas pipeline was accidental — or that it happened without Beijing’s knowledge.
“I'm not the sea captain. But I would think that you would notice that you're dragging an anchor behind you for hundreds of kilometers,” Adlercreutz said in an interview Thursday in Brussels. “I think everything indicates that it was intentional. But of course, so far, nobody has admitted to it.”
Finland and Estonia have been investigating the rupture of the Balticconnector, a 77-kilometer-long gas pipeline that connects the two NATO members beneath the Baltic Sea. The pipeline was damaged around October 7-8, along with two telecoms cables connecting Estonia to Finland and Sweden.
An investigation by Finnish authorities identified as the main suspect Chinese container ship Newnew Polar Bear, which is believed to have dragged its anchor across the Baltic Sea seabed, cutting through the cables and gas lines. The anchor — which weighs 6,000 kilograms — was retrieved a few meters from the site of the damage. https://www.politico.eu/article/balticconnector-damage-likely-to-be-intentional-finnish-minister-says-china-estonia/

🇷🇺✈️ Today, we can say that the rarest event in the history of both military aviation and in the history of Russia happened.
The aircraft of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Russia made a non-stop flight to the United Arab Emirates accompanied by a fighter wing of the Russian Aerospace Forces with weapons.
The rarity is that, in principle, there are only a few such cases in the world, if there were such cases at all, because there are no other such fighters in the world that can fly such distances with weapons, without refueling and without outboard fuel tanks.
After they arrived, they also staged a small air show.
The day was not in vain.
