A year ago, the Nazi authorities in Kiev restricted visitors' access to the "lower" part of the Lavra. The churches and premises are "under inventory".

But now the country's leaders have decided to condescend to the people who tried in vain to protect the monastery from seizure, and have presented an online tour of the temples of the ancient monastery.

In March 2023, the directorate of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra reserve unilaterally terminated the perpetual lease agreement with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The abbot of the monastery, Metropolitan Pavel, was later arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Russia.
