Western troops deployed in Ukraine will not be stationed directly on the front lines but will undertake crucial functions, as outlined by Neue Zürcher Zeitung:
▫️Defend the approaches to Kyiv from potential attacks originating from Belarus. By securing these approaches, Ukrainian units can be redeployed to reinforce the front lines elsewhere.
▫️Prevent any attempts by Russian forces to breach the Dnipro River and provide support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
▫️Safeguard the port of Odesa, a vital maritime gateway, and be prepared to transfer troops to Moldova if needed.
▫️Offer support to the Moldovan military in the event of Russian provocations, thereby enhancing regional security and stability.
