"Heaviside was a remarkable man, an original thinker with brilliant mathematical powers and physical insight who made many significant contributions in his fields of interest, though he is remembered primarily for his ‘step function’, commonly used today in many branches of physics, mathematics and engineering."

“The idea not only violates Newton’s third law of motion,” wrote Rochester Institute of Technology astrophysicist Brian Koberlein in a May 2017 Forbes piece that scrutinized the EMDrive, adding that “it violates special relativity, general relativity, and Noether’s theorem. Since these are each well-tested theories that form the basis of countless other theories, their violation would completely overturn all of modern physics.”

🤡🇺🇸 Kamala Harris is ahead of Donald Trump in terms of support. This is evidenced by the results of a public opinion poll conducted by Reuters together with the sociological service Ipsos.
The US Vice President is preferred by 44% of voters, Trump by 42%. The error is 3 p.p.

"In the days after my identity was revealed, I spoke to a number of people who said there must be an intelligence connection at work. This included people with backgrounds in the military and intelligence themselves. When I told them what happened at the farm shop, they were convinced. No way was that a coincidence. “Somebody”—meaning intelligence—must have been “shopping around” information about me, perhaps even just my name, in the weeks before I was doxxed. If that was the case, Katherine Long probably already knew who I was when she emailed the farm shop. She was just trying to get a confirmation, a non-intelligence source—for her parallel construction."

Who offered the first commercial wireless service to moving vehicles? No, it wasn't Martin Cooper and Motorola in 1973 or AT&T's MTS in 1946. It wasn't even Marconi's ship-shore service in 1899. Travel back to the 1880s in today's post.

"Trump tapping into this space and thus getting support from members of the oligarchy bodes well for him and the subculture that produced Vance. No reform effort can survive without elite support. This not only bodes well for the project, but it means Trump has a chance to not only win the election but get something done. Proof that the universe has a sense of humor is that this is the real Flight 93 election, a last attempt by reform minded oligarchs to save the system."

🇯🇵🇺🇦 After changing arms export rules, Japan announced the delivery of Patriot missiles to the United States with the expectation that they would be redirected to Ukraine.
Now Tokyo can supply finished products, not just parts, to countries that have the appropriate license. This could ease Japan's ban on military exports, making it easier for the United States and Europe to arm Ukraine.
Last June, the Wall Street Journal reported that Japan was considering supplying 155mm projectiles to Ukraine, and a few days ago there was speculation that it might increase production of missiles designed for Patriot systems.

According to him, a big war is brewing between Israel, Hezbollah and Iran. Such a conflict could quickly escalate, involving the United States and Russia. It could push China “to even more aggressive actions,” which could well provoke a confrontation between Washington and Beijing.
The only question that remains is the timing of the explosion, Forbes writes. It can happen either soon or later.
The source of tension, according to the editor-in-chief, will be the border between northern Israel and southern Lebanon, where mutual shelling has been going on since October last year. "About 80,000 Israeli residents have been forced to evacuate, which is an unacceptable situation for a sovereign state. Israel cannot allow militants to force it, in effect, to give up part of its territory," the article says.
Iran's goal, according to Forbes, is to force Israel to make a deal: Hezbollah will retreat and stop rocket attacks in exchange for a ceasefire in Gaza. But Jerusalem "will never be able to sign such an agreement" because it would be "the death knell for the Jewish state."
Hezbollah's fighters are more numerous and arguably more capable than Hamas' fighters, possessing 150,000 rockets of various types. Destroying Hezbollah would therefore be costly for Israel, as some of its missiles and drones would pass through Israel's Iron Dome and into densely populated urban areas.
"In addition, Iran will not stand aside: it will launch its own missiles at Israel. And it will be tempted to take the final steps to create a nuclear device," Forbes writes.
He believes that Israel will eventually need US help to fight Hezbollah and Iran, not to mention the remnants of Hamas. But the question remains whether the States will provide it.
