He broadcast a talk that took the form of a detailed account of a revolution in England. This was delicate territory, as it coincided with the General Strike. The Daily Express protested strongly, with headlines declaring: ‘A Blunder by BBC: Revolution Hoax by Wireless. People Alarmed all Weekend.’ A clear warning had been issued before the talk that the incidents described were imaginary; however, many took Father Knox’s account seriously. Sir Leo Chiozza Money, a financial journalist, remarked that 'the item was utterly humorless,' while the Lord Mayor of Newcastle complained that his wife had been seriously upset, prompting him to call a neighboring mayor for reassurance."
