Operation Gladio was the codename for clandestine "stay-behind" operations of armed resistance that were organized by the Western Union (WU) (founded in 1948), and subsequently by NATO (formed in 1949) and by the CIA (established in 1947), in collaboration with several European intelligence agencies during the Cold War. Although Gladio specifically refers to the Italian branch of the NATO stay-behind organizations, Operation Gladio is used as an informal name for all of them. Stay-behind operations were prepared in many NATO member countries, and in some neutral countries.

"However, Benjamin’s whole ethos goes far beyond a corrupt state. His conspiracy theories challenge practically everything, from the moon landing and weather modification to the Holocaust and the legitimacy of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

"Throughout this article, I’m going to attempt to outline not only what Benjamin stands for but also why his particular brand of extremism is so incredibly insidious. Let’s get into it."

"In the 19th century, the Russians took Paris. In the 20th century, the Russians took Berlin. In the 21st century, if they are forced to do so by NATO’s recalcitrance, the Russians will take Kiev, Berlin, and Paris. Fortunately, Putin understands the evils of empire and has no interest in following the disastrous lead of the British and US empires. So it would be much better for everyone if the inevitable were simply accepted, however bitterly, now instead of this time next year."

NEW ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT JUST DROPPED

> A man was arrested outside of a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Southern California, and multiple guns were illegally in his possession, according to authorities.

> The arrest took place at a checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Coachella at 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said. The rally was scheduled to start at 5 p.m., but Sheriff Chad Bianco said at a news conference Sunday that the arrest took place before Trump arrived.

"For me, it wasn’t the volume, but rather, the observably different writing styles appearing in the same papers. I personally know and edit two extremely prolific writers, John C. Wright and Chuck Dixon. And there is a fundamental sameness to their writing styles, even across a much wider range of thematic topics, than one sees in the Miles Mathis, JK Rowling, or James Patterson committees. Even books written by a pair of co-writers instead of a single author is usually quite identifiable; for example, if you compare Good Omens to a typical book by either Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman, it’s very easy to not only see that two authors were involved, but to a certain extent, which parts were written by whom.

"In the case of the MMC, the painter guy, who has a very good eye for photo fakes, is clearly different than the genealogy guy. The difference is downright jarring when they’re both contributing to the same article. And they’re both different than the history guy, who has a much better grasp on basic history than most writers."

TIL when JRR Tolkien attempted to change the entire tone of The Hobbit to fit the more serious Lord of the Rings trilogy, he gave up after the third chapter because it "just wasn't The Hobbit" any longer without its playful tone and quick pace.

Ukraine has called on the Arbitration Tribunal in The Hague to compel Russia to demolish the Kerch Bridge, arguing that it violates international law. During her closing speech at the tribunal on October 3, Oksana Zolotaryova, Deputy Agent of Ukraine, emphasized that dismantling the bridge is the only way to restore free passage for international shipping through the Kerch Strait, which has been restricted since the bridge's construction.

Zolotaryova dismissed Russian claims that the bridge has a humanitarian purpose, labeling them as lies. She accused Russia of using the bridge to turn the Sea of Azov into a "closed Russian lake" and violating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Built between 2014 and 2017, the Kerch Bridge is one of the world's lowest bridges across an international strait, and Ukraine asserts that Russia must remove it to comply with international norms.

"Poberezkin says that SimpleX is “100 percent private by design” and that even if he wanted to, he couldn’t access information about user IP addresses. Another key privacy aspect of the app is that, unlike most other encrypted chat apps, SimpleX does not require users to enter a phone number or email to register for an account—removing one of the key ways that law enforcement can track down users on other platforms.

“SimpleX, at its core, is designed to be truly distributed with no central server. This allows for enormous scalability at low cost, and also makes it virtually impossible to snoop on the network graph,” Poberezkin wrote in a company blog post published in 2021."

🚀 A Rare Celestial Visitor is Approaching Earth! 🌌🌠

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, a comet discovered in 1965, is making its closest approach to Earth this month – a sight that won’t happen again for thousands of years! This icy wanderer will be visible through binoculars or small telescopes, offering a rare chance to catch a glimpse of a comet that’s been traveling through the cosmos for millions of years.

Mark your calendars for mid-October, when it will be closest to us, passing at a distance of about 33 million miles (53 million kilometers). The best viewing time will be just before dawn, as it appears near the constellation Cancer.

🌠 Fun fact: Comets like Tsuchinshan-ATLAS are considered “time capsules” from the early solar system, containing ancient materials that date back billions of years.
