'Offering similar criticism, University of Chicago history Professor Rachel Fulton Brown told The College Fix she is not surprised that Boston University would implement a course of this nature. Brown explained the course’s noscript is likely “intended to get people’s attention.”

“[Sexuality is] degraded to the point…that we don’t take its intense power as seriously,” Brown said.

She said it would be “a great course” if it approached the topic of gender in Medieval times through the lens of Christian mysticism. Medieval monks were intimately devoted to God, understanding themselves as Christ’s brides, she told The Fix.

The course demonstrates how humanity has lost its sense of “being made in the image and likeness of God – and what that means,” she said.

“I think this course is a good symptom of the crisis that we’re in… Are we going to recognize ourselves as creatures of God or are we going to pretend that we are our own makers?” Brown said.'

🎂 On January 2, 1920, an American writer Isaac Azimov was born into the family of a miller from the village of Petrovichi, Smolensk region of Russia.

The boy lived in Russia until he was three years old.

Asimov's family name derives from the first part of озимый хлеб (ozímyj khleb), meaning 'winter grain' (specifically rye) in which his great-great-great-grandfather dealt, with the Russian patronymic ending -ov added. When the family arrived in the United States in 1923 and their name had to be spelled in the Latin alphabet, Asimov's father spelled it with an S, believing this letter to be pronounced like Z (as in German), and so it became Asimov.

It is curious that most of Isaac Asimov’s work is devoted to space and interplanetary travel, but in real life the writer was an aerophobe and was terrified of flying on an airplane. In his entire life, he only flew on an airplane twice.

Asimov began writing as a child. Over the 72 years of his life, he published about 500 books. In addition, the writer wrote a column in the Magazine of Science & Science Fiction and had a degree in chemistry, which he received in 1948 from Columbia University. He returned to science fiction only in the last decade of his life.
