TIL there were just 5 surviving longbows from medieval England known to exist before 137 whole longbows (and 3,500 arrows) were recovered from the wreck of the Mary Rose in 1980 (a ship of Henry VIII's navy that capsized in 1545). The bows were in excellent finished condition & have been preserved.

The reason is "unprecedented demand" in the Ukrainian armed forces, so a second production facility is planned. Currently, the US Army is trying to meet the requirement to produce at least 30 new barrels monthly. Currently, the only manufacturer of barrels (M776 39 caliber) is Watervliet Arsenal, but its capacity is not yet sufficient.

“'In his personal utterances Einstein is always so charming—quite unlike the foolish publicity circus that has been set in motion for him,' declared the German mathematician, Felix Klein (1849–1925). That publicity circus was a mere sideshow compared to all three rings awaiting Einstein when “the Galilei of the twentieth century” would travel to America, a land where science had come to public relations, and public relations had come to science."

"One of the institutions ransacked by the Nazi student groups that organized the book burnings was the Institute for Sexual Research (Institut für Sexualwissenschaft). Founded by the pioneering sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld, the institute was the first medical center devoted to the study of gender and sexuality. At the institute, trans patients received gender-affirming care, activists campaigned for the rights of queer Germans and doctors conducted research on gender-affirming procedures — much of which was lost forever in the book burnings."

"So what does all that history have to do with America purchasing Greenland? Denmark still “owns” Greenland right? Well, only for foreign affairs and defense, in return for an annual stipend that is a fraction of what the United States invests in the infrastructure of Greenland every year. America built Greenland’s airports, sea ports and roads for dual defense and civil purposes. Not Denmark."

At least we won't try to genocide the Greenlandic Inuit with a secret IUD implantation scheme like Denmark did.

I had no idea the Danes attempted the genocide of the Inuit people by sterilizing their women. Read Matt Bracken's explosive piece, and check out his excellent fiction, too!
"But the Greenlandic Inuit must love their Danish “big brothers,” and hold them in high regard, right? Wrong! Not after the long-overdue exposure of a secret Danish program that can only be described as the planned genocide of the Greenlandic Inuit. I was actually shocked to learn about this while doing a bit of online research for this piece. Why have we never heard of “The Spiral Case?” Is it because Denmark is a NATO ally, and we don’t want to embarrass them?"

RFK Jr. Exposes America’s Health Catastrophe in Powerful Opening Statement
“Today, Americans’ overall health is in grievous condition. Over 70% of adults and a third of children are overweight or obese.”
“Diabetes is 10 times more prevalent than it was during the 1960s. Cancer among young people is rising by 1 or 2% a year. Autoimmune diseases, neurodevelopmental disorders, Alzheimer’s, asthma, ADHD, depression, addiction, and a host of other physical and mental health conditions are all on the rise, some of them exponentially.”
“The United States has worse health than any other developed nation. Yet we spend more on health care, at least double and in some cases triple, as other countries. Last year, we spent $4.8 trillion, not counting the indirect cost of missed work.”
“A healthy person has a thousand dreams. A sick person has only one. Today, over half of our countrymen and women are chronically ill.”

Syria is demanding compensation from Russia for its “past mistakes,” The Moscow Times reports.
Following the first visit of a Russian delegation to Damascus since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, the new Syrian government issued a statement emphasizing the need to address historical grievances. While acknowledging Moscow’s support for the “positive changes” in Syria, officials stated that restoring relations must consider past mistakes, respect the will of the Syrian people, and serve their interests.
In particular, Syria is demanding compensation for the destruction caused by Russian airstrikes during its support of Assad in the civil war. The government stressed that rebuilding trust with the Syrian people requires concrete steps, including reparations, reconstruction, and economic recovery.
The Russian delegation, which arrived on January 28, included Putin’s special representatives—Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Alexander Lavrentiev. The Kremlin’s key concern was the future of its military bases in Khmeimim and Tartus. However, negotiations reportedly reached an impasse, with Türkiye opposing Russia’s continued presence and the new Syrian administration unwilling to overlook Moscow’s past involvement in the conflict.
Bogdanov stated that, for now, the status of Russian bases in Syria remains unchanged. However, Bloomberg sources confirm that Moscow has failed to secure an agreement on their long-term presence.
