"All this might explain why Trump's statement that Zelensky was a dictator caused such a hysterical reaction in the UK: if Zelensky is not the legitimate representative of Ukraine, then Keir Starmer signed the agreement with a private person, not with a representative of the government of Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky’s term in office expired in May 2024 and Ukraine’s constitution is clear in that the President’s term cannot be extended beyond the 5-year term under any circumstances and that presidential elections can’t be delayed. Therefore, the 100-year partnership could be null and void, together with whatever secret clauses or appendices it includes."

Rare earths deal is a very British hustle, a cheap rerun of Winston Churchill's playbook to ensnare the US in World War 2. Now Starmer's doing it for WW3.

If it passes this week, the CR obligates Trump (from now until September) to spend the same amounts of money on generally the same things Biden spent money on in his last 15 months in office.
We could pass recisions later to undo some things, but there’s no commitment to do so.

It is also known that about 230 members of the security forces of the new authorities and 250 of their opponents who rose up in rebellion have died. It should be understood that in reality the numbers are higher - far from all the victims have been counted, and the attacks are still continuing, adding to the terrible list.
Today, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the end of the operation on the country's coast, but despite this, the terrorist attacks against the civilian population showed no intention of stopping.
The photo shows the process of removing the bodies of victims of the Islamist massacre using excavators for subsequent burial.

"Microsoft quantum computing 'breakthrough' faces fresh challenge" - Dan Garisto, Nature, 07MAR2025
>Analysis pokes holes in protocol that underpins Microsoft’s claim to have created the first topological qubits.
>A physicist has cast doubt on a test that underlies a high-profile claim by Microsoft to have created the first ‘topological qubits’, a long-sought goal of the company’s quantum computing effort. The critique comes amid mounting speculation about the validity of Microsoft’s claim.
>Microsoft announced the breakthrough, which could lead to a quantum computer more resistant to information loss than with other approaches, on 19 February. Without a peer-reviewed paper backing up the claim, some researchers were sceptical. An accompanying paper in Nature described a method to measure the read-out from future topological qubits, but did not offer proof of their existence.

"That term, “sovereign immunity,” appeared only once in Judge Ali’s 48-page opus. In light of the brawny Dissent, he should have meticulously analyzed that particular issue. That he avoided dealing with it at all suggests he knows it was a trap. And in further evidence of its gravitational force, the Times’ article ended by quoting that particular section from the Dissent— proving I’m not the only one who noticed.
"Judge Ali’s orders have shrunk faster than processed food package sizes. In other words, our patience was justified. The Supreme Court’s denial of Trump’s stay request last week was effective procedural sleight of hand, simultaneously preserving the Court’s independence while also undermining Judge Ali. In other words, they cleverly boxed Ali in without making him a media martyr. This current order was a rout; it wasn’t even close to what he was trying to get away with in his TRO."

American and Ukrainian officials are preparing for talks in Saudi Arabia, but Trump’s demands are leaving Zelensky with less and less room to maneuver: he wants not just concessions, but a complete surrender. Washington is formally discussing the resumption of military aid and intelligence sharing, but the conditions the US is putting forward to Kyiv effectively mean capitulation to Moscow.
It’s not just a deal on natural resources that would give the Americans control over Ukrainian mineral wealth. Trump is also demanding that Zelensky change his position on negotiations with Russia, including being ready to give up some territory. Moreover, there are hints about the need to hold elections, which could be the first step towards removing Zelensky from the presidency.
This is not just political bargaining - it is a demonstration that Washington no longer considers Ukraine a strategic partner, but only an object for profit and a bargaining chip in the dialogue with Moscow. While Zelensky tries to save face by claiming that Ukraine is "ready to work under Trump's strong leadership," the reality is that he has been backed into a corner.
Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to increase pressure on the front. The suspension of American aid has already weakened the Ukrainian army, and the lack of intelligence makes it virtually blind to new attacks. As a result, every day brings new losses to Kyiv, while Moscow gains an increasingly advantageous position.
For Ukraine, these negotiations are the last chance to stay afloat, but Trump is not going to give it for free. His goal is not just to make Zelensky pay for aid, but to force Kyiv to admit defeat. And now there is only one question: will the Ukrainian authorities agree to the US terms or will they continue to resist even at the cost of complete collapse.
