Prayers for the Florence Police officer who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon. 🙏🏻

Alabama: Two people were shot, including a Florence police officer, after a reported bank robbery around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

According to local media, police began to chase a car along Florence Boulevard after a reported robbery of a bank on Cox Creek Parkway.

Officers then pinned the car at the intersection of Florence Blvd. and Rivermont Road. The driver being chased then reportedly shot at officers.

One officer was struck as well as a female bystander.

Florence Police said Highway 72 near Shoals Outdoor Sports is currently closed due to the shooting.
