We wouldn’t need “Green Energy” if only we could tap into the awesome power of Nobel Laureate Kary Mullis spinning in his grave over this abuse of the PCR technology he pioneered.

Pure malice.

No one cares about Tom Swift anymore.

There are no Tom Swift fans to appeal to or re-educate.

But we must nevertheless dig up the corpse of a dead IP and stick its head on a pike to virtue signal.

TIL that Mythbusters were going to do an episode which highlighted the immense security flaws in most credit cards. But Discovery was threatened by - and eventually gave into - immense legal pressure from the major credit card companies to not air the episode.

A conversation with Dr. Michelle Forcier, Dean of the Brown Medical School.

Male gametes. That’s what makes me male.
No. Your sperm don’t make you male.

Then what does?
It’s a constellation.

In reality. In truth, okay?
Who’s truth are we talking about?

The same truth that says we’re sitting right here in this room, you and I.
No. You’re not listening.

If I see a chicken laying eggs and I say that’s a female chicken laying eggs, did I assign “female?” Or am I just observing a physical reality that’s happening in the world?
Does a chicken have gender identity? Does a chicken cry?

Well, a chick…
Does a chicken commit suicide? Let’s frame it…

What does that…
Because you’re talking, you’re trying…

But a chicken has sex like any, like any biological organism.
A chicken has an assigned gender, but a chicken doesn’t have a gender identity.

So we assign “female” to chicken when they lay eggs?
We assume they’re female if they lay eggs.

TIL The group of spikes on a Stegosaur's tail originally had no distinct name; cartoonist Gary Larson invented the name "thagomizer" in 1982 as a joke in his comic strip Far Side, and it was gradually adopted as an informal term sometimes used within scientific circles, research, and education.
