Hondo, Texas: Early this morning, at approximately 2:27 a.m. on March 21, 2025, one of our patrol officers was targeted by a green laser while on duty in the 1600 block of 16th Street. The laser, believed to have been directed from several blocks away near 16th Street and Avenue J, struck the officer in the eyes—momentarily blinding him and causing ongoing vision issues.

The officer was transported to the hospital, treated, and thankfully released.

This act is not only dangerous but also a criminal offense under Texas Penal Code 42.13.

The suspect fled the area immediately after the laser was used. We are asking for the community’s help in identifying the person responsible.
