The Man Who Loved His City

A lovely little essay on Niccolo Machiavelli and his love for his native city of Florence: The tradition of political realism has a reputation for being pessimistic—that is, for seeing and expecting the worst from the world, its individuals, and its states. Yet, despite all his realism, Niccolò Machiavelli was a romantic about his city. […]

"Governments put folic acid into essential foodstuffs to stop pregnant women who don’t have enough folic acid in their bodies from having babies with something called a neural tube defect. Pregnant women, or women contemplating pregnancy, could, of course, just take “free” folic acid tablets to prevent this happening but some can’t be bothered, presumably preferring to take the risk of having a badly deformed baby than go through the physical and mental torment of taking a pill once a day.

So, we are led to believe that governments are putting possibly dangerous folic acid into essential foods to protect a handful of babies from mind-blowingly lazy or stupid mothers.

And this is, to be honest, such an incredibly insane thing to do that I don’t believe it. Why would any government in its collective right mind deliberately and cold-bloodedly do something that could cause damage to the health and life of every citizen (and that will possibly kill an unknown number of them) in order to protect the health of unborn children who can easily be protected if their mothers (or would-be mothers) take a few pills?

I suspect, I fear, that putting folic acid into our essential food supplies is merely another attempt to make us sick or to kill us."

I’m suing the law firm of Perkins Coie for their egregious and unlawful acts, in particular the conduct of a specific member of this firm, only to find out that the Judge assigned to this case is Beryl Howell, an Obama appointment, and a highly biased and unfair disaster. She ruled against me in the past, in a shocking display of sick judicial temperament, on a case that ended up working out very well for me, on appeal. Her ruling was so pathologically bad that it became the “talk of the town.” I could have a 100% perfect case and she would angrily rule against me. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome, and she’s got a bad case of it. To put it nicely, Beryl Howell is an unmitigated train wreck. NO JUSTICE!!!

Chinese companies have now started selling the products they used to make for Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc. at "normal prices" like a $20 bag instead of $2000. They are making a big fuss about it and making fun of it.

Aleksandar Vučić’s possible attendance at the May 9 parade in Moscow may jeopardize Serbia’s EU membership negotiations — according to The Telegraph and Financial Times.

Russian state media claim the Serbian president will be among the guests at the Victory Day celebration. Serbian outlets have not confirmed or denied this.

Brussels has warned that such a visit would contradict the EU’s core values and breach membership criteria.

Serbia, which applied to join the EU in 2009 and gained candidate status in 2012, currently has its accession talks stalled over its refusal to support sanctions against Russia.

Britain has successfully tested a new microwave anti-drone system called RapidDestroyer, which could potentially be deployed in Ukraine, Financial Times reports.

During the recent tests, the system effectively neutralized two swarms of eight drones each and tracked, detected, and destroyed over 100 drones in total. RapidDestroyer uses radio frequencies to jam drone electronics at a range of up to one kilometer.

A key advantage of the system is the low cost of operation — each “shot” costs just 10 pence. Additionally, the system can operate continuously as long as it remains connected to a power source.
"In another blow to Russian military capabilities, Ukrainian bomber drones have successfully destroyed two of Russia’s more advanced and expensive electronic warfare (EW) systems: the RB-301B Borisoglebsk-2.

"The confirmed kills were announced by Ukraine’s Operational Command South on April 15, accompanied by dramatic video footage showing precise aerial strikes landing squarely on the targets."

Importing Taiwan’s Semiconductor Industry

There is a lot more going on in the trade war between the USA and China than just escalating tariff rates. The Chinese are obviously concerned that the US is going to essentially import all of Taiwan’s most valuable intellectual capital. In response to media query on concerns on the Taiwan island over the US […]

India Evicts Pakistanis

It’s always fascinating to hear Westerners talk about the absolute impossibility of restoring their demographics to pre-invasion levels while Easterners blithely engage in ethnic cleansings of far-greater proportions in places like Israel and India that never take more than a few months to accomplish. Pakistani citizens in India must leave the country before their visas […]

"Vox’s Socio-Sexual Hierarchy (SSH) is a taxonomy concerning male interaction. It was derived from his observations and penned during the Game discovery era of males attempting to ascertain and share the labyrinths of the female psyche. The SSH is one of the most important tools in predicting male behavior and is a necessity if one wishes to navigate the world of men as we order each other, with any sense of the interactions involved. Its predictive power is astonishing and I hold it to levels of usefulness just under those The Philosopher himself penned."
