"Nonetheless, those of us who have looked into the man in more detail are aware of episodes of less than saintly behavior by Albert – the famous scientific idol. If, for example, you read any of the half-dozen or so lengthy biographies about him, you will find scattered therein stories of him speaking inappropriately or behaving, one might say, as a jerk. Having read all those books, and others – and even written three books on him myself – I knew this. So when I started reading a recent long biography of his first wife, Mileva Marić, I had no reason to think I’d be shocked, since I had already read a lot about her, including a book of letters to and from her best friend, which also contained a brief biography. But to my surprise, I was staggered in reading over 400 pages of his nasty behavior concentrated around this one woman – a woman whom he fell in love with as a university student, and who was the only mother of his children.
"Here is the sad – and probably surprising to most readers – story of Mileva and Albert."

"It’s quite amazing how different their answers were with regard to identity politics. Grok appears to be far less “sympathetic” of ‘notions’ of identities as opposed to actual identities. It did justify its responses based on numbers, so perhaps it was more about the ‘morality’ of killing fewer people. But it did seem to value the woman who could actually reproduce, over the man who thinks he is a woman. Interesting that."

A Western European government (guess which 🥖 ) approached Telegram, asking us to silence conservative voices in Romania ahead of today’s presidential elections. I flatly refused. Telegram will not restrict the freedoms of Romanian users or block their political channels.
You can’t “defend democracy” by destroying democracy. You can’t “fight election interference” by interfering with elections. You either have freedom of speech and fair elections — or you don’t. And the Romanian people deserve both.🇷🇴

The State Department and the National Security Council did not respond to multiple requests for comment before this article was published. After publication, a spokesperson told NBC News, “these reports are untrue.”
“The situation on the ground is untenable for such a plan. Such a plan was not discussed and makes no sense,” the spokesperson said.

"The Limits to Growth is a scientific publication based on a number of computer simulations performed in the 60s and 70s. While the book uses a scientific and disconnected approach to the mathematics and models, the authors are not. Put simply, the Limits to Growth discusses series of simulations based on resource scarcity, human population, energy availability, food availability, capital, pollution, and quality of life. Using those simulations it is possible to project into the future the way in which human civilization will change… and the models predict catastrophic collapse."

I highly recommend the 1984 classic, The Doomsday Myth, in this context. I regard it as the classic refutation of the Malthusian, Limits-to-Growth mindset:
"In The Doomsday Myth, Charles Maurice and Charles Smithson show that although doom merchants have been predicting imminent collapse from resource shortages as long as civilization has existed, no nation has ever fallen because of the depletion of a resource. They also show that government intervention has not been the solution to these crises. Instead, freely functioning markets with individuals acting in their own self-interest have eliminated shortages, and averted doomsday. The free market theme is the same one used by Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations in 1776, but the need to restate it for new generations is urgent. The authors concluded that a resource-based doomsday will arrive only if we suspend the functioning of free markets."

🇬🇧 Woman appeals against Southport tweet jail term
Lucy Connolly, posted a comment on X in the aftermath of the Southport massacre in the UK.
As a mother who lost her firstborn at 19 months old and has a 12 year old child, she was triggered by the unjust suffering and death of children attending their local dance class.
After cooling down and a walk with her dog, she decided to remove the post.
Despite the post being live for only a few hours and her subsequent deletion of the post, she was arrested and charged under Section 19 of the Public Order Act for publishing material intending to stir up racial hatred.
Based on advice she received while in custody, she pled guilty and was convicted.
Lucy believed a guilty plea would result in her being able to get back to her family faster. Instead she was sentenced to 31 months in jail because of her post and denied the ability to Release on Temporary License, which allows inmates up to two days at home with their families.
The Free Speech Union, a non-profit that X has worked with on similar matters, is providing Lucy with representation to appeal her sentence.
X wholeheartedly supports Lucy and the Free Speech Union in this case.
— Global Government Affairs
Lucy is appealing against the sentence of two years and seven months she was given after she admitted inciting racial hatred.
Connolly told the court that during discussions with her barrister at the crown court, she did not understand that by pleading guilty she was accepting that she intended to incite violence.

The Magic of Morning Coffee: How Does Caffeine Wake Up Our Brain?
☕️ For many of us, the morning wouldn’t be complete without a cup of aromatic coffee. It’s more than just a pleasant taste—it has a remarkable ability to chase away drowsiness and energize us for the day ahead. But have you ever wondered how this “magic” works from a scientific perspective? Let’s explore how caffeine wakes up our brain!
🧠 The key player behind coffee’s stimulating effect is, of course, caffeine. Its molecular structure closely resembles adenosine—a compound that builds up in our brain throughout the day, making us feel tired and signaling it’s time to rest. When we sleep, adenosine levels drop.
✨ How does it work?
When caffeine enters the brain, it “tricks” it by binding to adenosine receptors and blocking them. As a result, adenosine can’t attach to its receptors to trigger sleepiness. It’s like the brain doesn’t get the signal to slow down.
⚡️ More than just alertness:
Blocking adenosine receptors sets off a chain reaction:
• Increased neural activity: The brain starts working more intensively.
• Boost in other neurotransmitters: For example, dopamine (linked to pleasure and motivation) and norepinephrine (enhances attention and focus). That’s why we often feel energized, more focused, and in a better mood after drinking coffee.
• Constriction of brain blood vessels: This can relieve some types of headaches caused by vessel dilation. However, in other tissues, caffeine may cause vessels to dilate.
🔬 Fun facts from scientists:
Studies show that moderate coffee consumption can improve cognitive functions (attention, memory), boost metabolism, and even reduce the risk of certain diseases. But moderation is key—too much caffeine can lead to overstimulation, insomnia, and other unpleasant effects.
So, your morning cup of coffee is actually a finely tuned chemical cocktail that interacts with your brain’s biochemistry to bring you that feeling of energy and well-being.
How does coffee affect you? Do you feel more energized and focused after drinking it? Share your experience in the comments!
