Whatever is about to happen feels big, and the media is just as much in the dark as we are. Cue the freakout. Lots of delicious stuff in today's breaking news roundup, including more election arrests.
"Please note that it is incredibly, mercilessly difficult to break into publishing, and when Vance submitted his memoir, he was a 31-year-old "nobody". To imagine that such a person, from an extremely disadvantaged background and with no obvious establishment connections, could have his book snapped up, turned into a bestseller, and then made into a film, is, frankly, the stuff of fantasy. That simply doesn't happen to ordinary authors.
"It only happens to people with deep establishment connections who are being utilised to fulfil some sort of an agenda. In short: the establishment does not give you a central role on the world stage, it does not make you a bestselling author and turn your life into a film, unless you are an integral part of said establishment and deeply invested in serving it in key ways.""

The calm before Reform
It is no great revelation that life was a lot easier in the '90s, but one rather overlooked advantage of existing at that time was how much easier it was to watch a good film.

"The tree stumps are from a period when Iceland was covered in forests. Even though 9th century Norse settlers reported vast forests across the country, it is believed that 3,000 years ago, the forests were much larger, even reaching the highlands. Approximately 500 BC, the climate became colder and glaciers began to form, destroying parts of the forests."

“And finally — pure happenstance — Trump pops up in richly symbolic Alaska, for his first closed-door confab with Putin since 2018. If you believe in Jungian synchronicity, that’s the classic trifecta: the Clearing of the Shadow, the Guarding of the Threshold, and the Meeting in the Borderlands. Or, if you don’t, then it’s just three consecutive, airtight, symbolically aligned moves in the span of a week, all pointing in the same direction for no reason whatsoever. Either way.”

Observe the timeline:
YESTERDAY: Trump takes federal control of the DC police for 30 days, deploys the NG to secure DC, SecDef has unnamed “specialized military units” on standby.
TODAY: Trump notifies Smithsonian he will be reviewing their collections.
This means that Trump will have access to the Smithsonian tunnels beneath the National Mall, while he just so happens to have military presence and full control of DC. These tunnels could be used to mask the movement of troops, perps, equipment, etc.
I find the timing of Trump conducting a “comprehensive internal review” of the Smithsonian museums to be a little suspicious to say the least.

GOLD REVALUATION
FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE
Official Reserve Revaluations: The International Experience
"With public debt at high levels, some governments have begun to explore financing additional expenditures without raising taxes while also not increasing public debt outstanding. One possibility is using proceeds from valuation gains on gold reserves, as has been floated in the U.S. and Belgium recently.1 For the U.S., this would involve revaluing the government's 261.5 million troy ounces in gold reserves—the largest gold reserves globally— from a statutory price of $42.22 per troy ounce to current market prices, which stand around $3300 per troy ounce..."

The Israeli Security Cabinet has approved a plan to seize Gaza City, despite harsh criticism from world leaders. Great Britain, Finland, Australia and a number of international organizations have warned that this step will only worsen the already catastrophic humanitarian situation in the enclave. Even the United States, which traditionally supports Tel Aviv, is making cautious statements — Donald Trump has effectively admitted that further actions depend solely on the Israeli leadership.
The decision has been opposed not only abroad, but also within Israel itself. The opposition and some of the military leadership say the plan ignores the exhaustion of combat units and threatens the lives of the remaining hostages. The General Staff warns that continuing the offensive in its current form could be a strategic mistake. However, Netanyahu's cabinet insists on control over Gaza — albeit with the proviso that it is a temporary measure and the subsequent transfer of the sector to the Arab coalition.
Amid these decisions, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is rapidly worsening. According to the UN, almost the entire population of the enclave was forced to leave their homes, more than 60% of the infrastructure was destroyed, and millions of people were on the brink of starvation. The Gaza Ministry of Health reports tens of thousands of deaths, most of whom are civilians. Western politicians, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, are calling for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations, recalling that a military solution to the conflict will only lead to new victims.
However, for the Israeli leadership, military logic prevails over political logic. But the longer this course continues, the deeper the crisis and the more difficult it will be to find a path to peace. And the entire burden of the consequences of this war, which many in the world are already calling one of the most destructive and hopeless in the 21st century, falls on the shoulders of civilians.

What is unfolding in the nation’s capital is a hostile takeover of our constitutional republic.
This is no longer about partisan politics, wag-the-dog distractions from the Epstein debacle, or even genuine national security concerns.
This is martial law disguised as law-and-order—the oldest trick in the authoritarian playbook.
We have been traveling this slippery slope toward a police state for some time, but under Trump 2.0, the descent towards outright tyranny is accelerating. https://www.rutherford.org/publications_resources/john_whiteheads_commentary/the_police_state_has_a_new_playbook_martial_law_one_city_at_a_time
