"Why, then, did the field cling so tightly to these labels?

"Enter Damon Knight and his fellow gatekeepers.

"As sci-fi grandmaster John C. Wright has pointed out, Knight waged open war against A.E. Van Vogt, the true father of Golden Age science fiction. When The World of Null-A hit, readers were electrified. Here was a writer who could marry breathless pulp storytelling with genuinely novel speculative frameworks. Van Vogt’s nonlinear plotting and dream logic enthralled fans … and threatened critics. Knight dismissed Van Vogt as incoherent. And through repetition, that smear stuck.

"By the time Asimov, Clarke, and Heinlein were joking about being the “Big Three” in the 1970s, the fan consensus had ossified. Van Vogt was memory-holed. The Pulp Archivist has shown that the earliest “Big Three” actually did include Van Vogt alongside Heinlein and sometimes Asimov or Bradbury. But the critics decided that Serious science fiction required hard scientific rigor, and Van Vogt’s dreamlike plotting didn’t fit their mold.

"The hard/soft distinction became one more tool for the mandarins to elevate some authors while discarding others.

"But reality doesn’t go away just because some people try to ignore it.

"The deeper error is mistaking science fiction for a genre at all. It isn’t."

"And what does all this tell an American of today? Quite a bit. First, that the revolutionary Left will never stop voluntarily. They cannot; to do so contradicts the basic premises of their world view, today as in 1789, and all the years in between, most of all that human perfectibility is achievable and that any price, especially a price paid by those who would deny others heaven on earth, is worth paying. Second, for the Left, whenever power is not handed to them, those who do hold power are held to be necessarily illegitimate, and any action to strip them of power justified. Third, they can be stopped, because in their nature their reach exceeds their grasp, but stopping them cannot be done with words, since to the Left, words are meaningless. It will always and ever, until their hold on the human imagination is broken forever, be only possible to stop them by force. This is our future, whether we like it or not. We can hope it will be through the current institutions of order, if those are not yet wholly subverted by the Left. If not, it will be by some other mechanism, as the Finns found to their sorrow. The time is not yet—it probably would have been, had Donald Trump beaten the margin of fraud, since our Left would have been certain to, and was preparing to, react in the same way as their ideological predecessors and comrades, the Finnish Left, did in 1918. Maybe we get a break for a while. Or maybe not."

"If all of this sounds suspect to you, then it is. We do not need to invoke outlandish conspiracy theories to question the official FBI narrative. There are all kinds of plausible explanations, but I can think of two:

"The FBI is just incompetent, and cannot get their story straight. This is plausible, given how ineffective Kash Patel and Don Bongino have proven to be.

"There is a conspiracy, involving rogue elements of the FBI, the Trump administration itself, or outside forces ."

Undeniable Proof

No doubt this confession, obtained by the FBI, will put all doubts to rest. There it is, as clear as day. Means, motive, and confession. I know I’m convinced. Anyone who suspects that a certain individual might still be alive, or alternatively, became not-alive as a result of actions by anyone aside from the confessed […]

Kash Patel: There is no Credible Information in FBI Case Files Jeffrey Epstein Trafficked Children to anyone but Himself — BUT, I’m not saying he never did…

“Just to remind folks.. the Epstein case files existed in the two prior administrations — the Obama & Biden Administrations. They didn’t release anything. Then there was President Trump in the first administration that renewed charges against Epstein.

But what EXISTS in the FBI case files was a direct result of the limited search warrants from 2006 and 2007, which hamstrung future investigations because of the non-prosecution agreement.

MULTIPLE administrations had the opportunity to look at the entirety of the case files, and recommend prosecutions against anyone trafficked under Epstein. The ONLY person to bring Charges was in Trump’s administration.

Now I am NOT saying that others were not trafficked and others were not involved, I am telling you based on the information we have… there isn’t…”

Dialog — a secretive, invite-only network founded two decades ago by Peter Thiel and Auren Hoffman, the star investors and entrepreneurs — is preparing a major expansion, including a real estate purchase to build a campus in the D.C. suburbs, a tipster familiar with the group's plans tells Axios.

Why it matters: Dialog, often compared to a tech-era Bilderberg, has quietly become one of the most elite, and mysterious, gatherings for CEOs, elected officials, and intellectual heavyweights.

Dialog leaders are in active discussions to buy a physical venue in Virginia, just outside Washington, to serve as a permanent hub for its off-the-record meetings, the tipster says.

The decision to buy land, then build, within commuting distance of the capital shows the group isn't just kissing President Trump's ring, but plans to be engaged in Washington long after this term. https://archive.ph/ARdlS
