Only in the past few decades have women started to outpace men at all levels: new bachelor’s degrees, new graduate degrees, new faculty members. Today, an institution once led and populated almost entirely by men, is increasingly led and populated by women. Because men and women (on average) have different traits, tendencies, and priorities, this change in sex ratios has changed and will continue to change the nature of the modern university.

The inclusion of women in higher education is a great achievement for Western liberal societies. How is this changing academic culture?

I agree completely with this:
Our contemporary consensus is materialist monism. Nature is purely physical, and that pure physicality extends to human consciousness. Neither cosmos or humanity has any teleology. Free will is an illusion and consciousness is an epiphenomenon of brain-matter. Human thought is merely computation, and will be replaced by machine thought as AI improves…
Our contemporary consensus is not just wrong here and there, not just mildly out of step on reality. It is wrong on the fundamentals.
Tree of Woe describes the conventional Copenhagen Interpretation:
The critics of the Copenhagen interpretation complain that it dismisses as meaningless any questions about what’s really going on; its mantra is “shut up and calculate.” I’m one of them. I’ve always found the Copenhagen interpretation to be philosophically unsatisfying, and have actively sought alternatives since first studying quantum mechanics at West Point.
So far so good, and I'm on board with that too. Except for the West Point part. My introduction to QM was at Purdue.
He further explains the Von Neumann-Wigner "waveform collapse" interpretation and Hugh Everett's Many Worlds Interpretation and their respective problems.
Excellent discussion.
Then he introduces the "Traveling Minds Interpretation," an interesting hybrid of Waveform Collapse and Many Worlds.
My initial impression is that it suffers the same problems as its progenitors, but it's worth taking a closer look, particularly given Tree of Woe's lucid explanation.

As I commented on Tree of Woe's substack:
Very interesting. I wasn't aware of that hybrid of MWI and Waveform Collapse. While I love MWI for fictional purposes (see how the characters made different decisions and had different outcomes on a different timeline), I prefer the pilot wave theory, because it appears to be the natural extension of how classical electromagnetic fields guide the flow of energy, as extrapolated to the limit in which energy is quantized.
More in my recent paper which should be mostly accessible even to the non-mathematically inclined.

If the US actually wanted to lead in semiconductors, it’d be urging kids to study electrical engineering and quantum mechanics.
Instead, it’s focused on “deconstructing racism” in math education — including the very concept of right answers.
It is of course amusing that US textbooks are so focused on math’s supposed “white supremacy” in a world where China and India produce most of the engineers.
But that’s logic, which is math, which we are informed is racist.

I know, you’re thinking that this has to be a parody, or some sort of cruel caricature. But, as has repeatedly proven to be the case with the Most Influential Thinker in All of Human History, reality easily exceeds even the most vicious satire. And the only thing funnier than the book itself is the hundreds of comments by Peterson fans that are actually praising his doggerel.

TIL In 1920, the worlds largest lightbulb manufacturers (including GE) formed the "Phoebus Cartel". The cartel lowered operational costs and standardized the life span of incandescent light bulbs at 1,000 hrs (down from 2,500 hrs). These were the primary lightbulbs sold up until the 21st century.

Hawaiian pizza was actually created in Canada.
While controversial, Hawaiian pizza was actually the most popular type of pie in the U.S. in 2020, according to GrubHub data. But, as CTV News notes, the combination of ham, cheese, tomato sauce, and pineapple, didn't originate there. An Ontario man named Sam Panopoulos claimed that he invented the Hawaiian pizza in 1962. "People only put on mushroom, bacon, and pepperoni, that's all," Panopoulos once said, per the Food Network. "I had pineapple in the restaurant and I put some on, and I shared with some customers and they liked it. And we started serving it that way. For a long time, we were the only ones serving it."

I'm not going to lie, I'm not super confident in the Finnish military in its current state should Russia decide to invade Finland for whatever reason.
Back during the winter war, the Finns had a slight technological edge over the Soviet Union, that being submachine guns, which were perfect for close forest combat, while the Russians didn't really have those that much until after they got spanked in that war.
If you look at Finnish soldiers today, most of them are carrying around decades old, worn out AKs, their other equipment in many cases looks to be similarly old, literally similarly equipped to Jihadist insurgents in third world countries. Sorry, but that's just an honest look at the situation.
I literally wouldn't be surprised if the Taliban was more well equipped than the Finnish military right now. Maybe when they join NATO things will start to look up?

Never, ever, pay any attention to The Manufactured Ones. Even when they belatedly say things that are true, they only do so in order to be able to mislead you again when their masters wish you to be led astray. No former vaxxine cheerleader who has turned against the vaxx should be trusted, for much the same reason that no converted liberal should be permitted to assume a position of leadership in a political or religious organization.
