Karl Denninger is frustrated about the way foolish people are managing to get themselves killed by winter. In the late 1970s and early 80s I lived in such a part of the country, near a big lake. There was no fuel injection; our cars had carburetors. By then…

"If Americans are fortunate, there will be other members of the US foreign elite besides Musk and Trump who understand that Clown World’s destination is Hell and are willing to disrupt its operations."

Cosmonaut explains why it behooves members of the Sane World to support Elon Musk’s antics, even though he is obviously a ticket-taker and a card-carrying member of the Clown World elite. As discussed in an earlier post, Machiavellian political theory holds…

Suppose you and a friend witness a guy clonking another on the head with a portable plastic newspaper kiosk and your friend says to you, “How medieval.” Your friend is clearly not saying the action is wrong because a preferred method of dispatching enemies in the eleventh century was conking, only that that method was then popular.
People often use “that’s medieval” fallaciously, particularly with regard to cultural institutions like the Catholic Church, calling its rules “medieval” and by implication therefore wrong because old, and therefore on the? wrong side of history. Of course, the Church got its start well before the medieval period, so not only do people argue badly, their grasp of history is like a drunken ninety-year-old arthritic who lost four fingers in a hunting accident.

After the grossly bloated $1.7 trillion Omnibus spending bill advanced in the Senate by a vote of 70-25, GOP Senator Rand Paul held a press briefing during which he wheeled in the “abomination” on a trolley and demanded to know how anyone would be able to read it before the end of the week.
