TIL Why paper cuts are so painful is b/c at a microscopic level, paper is actually quite rough. A knife makes a straight cut, but paper acts like a saw blade and does more damage to cells and nerve endings. Paper also leaves behind tiny fibres and chemical residues, irritating the wound even more.

The documents about the Ukrainian counteroffensive published by The New York Times are fake, – Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President.
"After the collapse of the USSR, Russian intelligence degraded to such an extent that the only way to wash away the "Salisbury adventures", "three days" and other failures is Photoshop and "virtual pseudo-rains". Moscow really wants to disrupt the Ukrainian counteroffensive. But the Russians will see the real plans. Soon," — wrote Podolyak on Twitter.
Before that, allegedly secret military documents were published on social networks, which describe in detail the secret plans of the US and NATO to build up the Ukrainian army before the planned counteroffensive against Russian troops, writes The New York Times with reference to sources in the Biden administration. According to the media, the Pentagon is investigating who could be behind the leaked documents that appeared on Twitter and Telegram.

Marine Corps Reserve units are recalling personnel who were discharged almost a year ago for not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and telling them they’ll be marked UA (unauthorized absence) if they don’t return.
Some of these articles are exhausting to research (like this one), and I don’t make a dime. I just want them to be read so America will know that crap is happening. Please share on your social media. Twitter link is on the bottom.

"Although these authors disagree about many details, they agree that Nixon was removed from office not because he endangered the constitutional order, but because his bureaucratic and political enemies plotted successfully against him. And while scholars shy away from endorsing some of the more dramatic claims that have been made over the years, the best understand Watergate not in terms of the conventional narrative, but as an institutional “conflict” in which Nixon was the most important casualty. Nixon had to go—not because of a bungled break-in, but because he challenged the national security state."

1st century steam engine
There lived in Egypt in the 1st century A.D. a scientist, engineer, mechanic, mathematician and simply a genius - Heron of Alexandria. He invented, for a moment: vending machines for holy water, automatic doors for temples, a distance meter, a fire pump, fountains, and... a steam engine.
The device was a cauldron of water, a fire was built under it, the water boiled and the steam gushed out and spun the device. Modern replicas made according to Geron's drawings were spun up to 3,500 rpm. The level of technology and scientific thought was such that official science could only reach the steam engine anew in the 19th century.

🇺🇸🇲🇽🪖 Trump Asks Advisers for ‘Battle Plans’ to ‘Attack Mexico’ if Reelected
As he campaigns for a second White House term, Trump has been asking policy advisers for a range of military options aimed at taking on Mexican drug cartels, including strikes that are not sanctioned by Mexico’s government, according to two sources familiar with the situation.
“‘Attacking Mexico,’ or whatever you’d like to call it, is something that President Trump has said he wants ‘battle plans’ drawn for,” says one of the sources. “He’s complained about missed opportunities of his first term, and there are a lot of people around him who want fewer missed opportunities in a second Trump presidency.”
Trump lieutenants have briefed him on several options that include unilateral military strikes and troop deployments on a sovereign U.S. partner and neighbor, the sources say. One such proposal that Trump has been briefed on this year is an October white paper from the Center for Renewing America, an increasingly influential think tank staffed largely by Trumpist wonks, MAGA loyalists, and veterans of his administration.
