🇧🇫 Protests against France in Burkina Faso
Demonstrations against the French presence in Burkina Faso took place on November 18, 2022, in Ouagadougou. The demonstrators demanded France recall its accredited ambassador to the country, as well as the army. Tear gas shots were heard outside the French embassy in Ouagadougou to disperse the demonstrators.
Some believe that these new protests represent requirements for the Executive to clarify its position regarding cooperation with France. Since in the first days that followed his taking office, the Prime Minister, Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela, had hinted that he would not let himself be given orders by the street.
Earlier in October, France sent six military elite units of the GIGN to Ouagadougou to ensure the safety of the ambassador and diplomatic staff.

The $500 million line has capacity to transmit 2,000 megawatts of electricity, potentially earning Ethiopia as much as $100 million annually.

🇬🇭 Ghana finance minister apologizes for economic hardship
Ghana’s finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta said on Friday he was “truly sorry” for the country’s economic hardship but defended himself against accusations by lawmakers that he is unfit for the job.
Ofori-Atta has been criticized for his handling of what has become Ghana’s worst economic crisis in a generation. The Ghanaian cedi has plummeted more than 40% this year. Consumer inflation hit a 21-year high of 40.4% in October on the back of soaring import costs.
Against this backdrop, the minister is facing censure with lawmakers from both major political parties calling for his removal from office. Ofori-Atta defended himself against a raft of criticism in his first public comments on the matter.
