Potential 500GB Nickelodeon Data Leak: Unreleased Shows and Scripts at Risk
According to several internet forums and tweets, approximately 500GB of data, including unreleased television shows, noscripts, and other materials, have been compromised.
Allegedly, the leaked data is said to have originated from Nickelodeon’s “consumer products and experience” portal. An authentication issue within the system allowed unauthorized users to gain access to the Nickelodeon animation department’s sensitive content.
The two individuals involved in the leak, known by their Discord usernames as “BowDown” and “IncidentalSeventy,” have reportedly faced action from either law enforcement or Nickelodeon itself.

India deals blow to online gaming industry with 28% tax
India's government on Tuesday said it would impose a 28% tax on funds that online gaming companies collect from their customers, in a blow to the $1.5 billion industry that has surged in popularity and attracted foreign investment.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the decision to impose tax on the total amounts gaming companies collect was taken after consultation with states, and the intent was not to hurt the industry.
But industry representatives said it would sap their earnings and the extra charges were likely to be passed on to customers.
"The implementation of a 28% tax rate will bring significant challenges to the gaming industry. This higher tax burden will impact companies' cash flows," Aaditya Shah, chief operating officer at the gaming app IndiaPlays, said.
Roland Landers, CEO of The All India Gaming Federation, said the decision was "unconstitutional (and) irrational"

Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
In recent news, Google has put forth a proposal known as the "Web Environment Integrity Explainer", authored by four of its engineers.
Google's proposal pivots on a key premise: enhancing trust in the client environment. It introduces a new API that allows websites to request a token, providing evidence about the client code's environment.
The proposed API, while framed as a tool for fostering trust, could potentially be used to control user behavior on the web. Some critics fear it could be a covert introduction of Digital Rights Management (DRM) into web pages, making ad-blocking near impossible.

Fun fact: Meta, Microsoft, hundreds more own trademarks to new Twitter name
X is so widely used and cited in trademarks that it is a candidate for legal challenges - and the company formerly known as Twitter could face its own issues defending its X brand in the future. “There’s a 100% chance that Twitter is going to get sued over this by somebody,” said trademark attorney Josh Gerben
Microsoft since 2003 has owned an X trademark related to communications about its Xbox video-game system. Meta Platforms - whose Threads platform is a new Twitter rival - owns a federal trademark registered in 2019 covering a blue-and-white letter “X” for fields including software and social media.
Meta and Microsoft likely would not sue unless they feel threatened that Twitter’s X encroaches on brand equity they built in the letter, Gerben said.

EU opens Microsoft antitrust investigation into Teams bundling
The European Commission will now carry out an in-depth investigation into whether Microsoft may have breached EU competition rules by tying or bundling Microsoft Teams to its Office 365 and Microsoft 365 productivity suites.
Microsoft had “illegally tied” its Microsoft Teams product to Office and is “force installing it for millions, blocking its removal, and hiding the true cost to enterprise customers.”
This is the first time Microsoft has faced an antitrust investigation in the EU for nearly 15 years.
