Microsoft reportedly pitched Apple on buying Bing to no avail
In 2020, Microsoft discussed selling Bing to Apple, but the talks remained exploratory, and Apple never seriously considered it. Apple's lucrative deal with Google as the default search engine on iOS and iPadOS, which brings in over $20 billion annually, was a key reason for this decision.
Apple had concerns about Bing's ability to compete with Google's quality and capabilities. Despite past opportunities for change, including meetings between Apple's Tim Cook and Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella in 2016, the status quo prevailed, and Apple and Google extended their deal in 2021, while Microsoft's attempt to disrupt it in 2020 did not succeed.

iPhone 12 Banned in France Over Radiation Levels France’s radiation watchdog has banned sales of Apple’s iPhone 12 after tests that it said showed the smartphone breached European radiation exposure limits. The ANFR recently tested 141 mobile phones and…
The Saga of the High-Radiation iPhone 12 Is Finally Over
France is set to allow Apple to resume iPhone 12 sales after the phone met the country's electromagnetic radiation standards following a software update. France had temporarily halted iPhone 12 sales due to alleged radiation violations, prompting Apple to issue a patch.
The country's regulatory agency confirmed the phone now complies with standards, with SAR reduced from 5.74 W/kg to 3.94 W/kg after the update. Despite the controversy, the iPhone 12 was already being phased out with the iPhone 15's release, as Apple aimed to shift focus to sustainability efforts, notably the FineWoven brand of textiles.

Bitwarden finally brings 2FA logins to free users
Bitwarden, a password manager, is now offering passkey 2FA for free to all users, making it the only password manager to provide this service at no cost. This means that anyone can leverage its FIDO2 WebAuthn authentication feature for an added layer of protection. Device-bound passkeys through features like Windows Hello will also be supported by Bitwarden.
This move is welcomed by existing free-tier users and comes in a competitive market where password manager options are expanding, including Google's efforts to enhance its password management capabilities.

JANDK Operations Private Limited, Developer of Indigenous Indian Mobile OS BharOS, Has a Director With a Controversial Past
JANDK OPERATIONS PRIVATE LIMITED is a Chennai-based startup that has developed BharOS, an indigenous mobile operating system. A while back, we made a post regarding how it's a fork of GrapheneOS despite it's big claims.
The company's two directors are Karthik Ayyar, a technology enthusiast, and Jaffar Sait, a former Indian Police Service officer.
Sait's history is checkered, to say the least. In 2011, he was suspended by the Tamil Nadu government for alleged fraud in acquiring residential plots from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. [1]
In 2014, the Madras High Court ordered the shutdown of a website that leaked tapes of telephonic conversations between Sait and DMK MP Kanimozhi, which were related to the 2G spectrum scam. [2]
The website even posted a public plea to stop his promotion[3]
In 2019, the Madras High Court quashed a criminal case against Sait for alleged loss caused to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. [4]
Sait retired as DGP in 2021, showing the plea failed.[5]
However, in 2022, he appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a money laundering case. The ED subsequently attached his properties.[6] [7]
A case regarding his wife is still ongoing[8]

Addressing iPhone 15 Overheating: Titanium Design Not to Blame
Apple is addressing overheating issues reported by iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro users with a forthcoming software update, likely iOS 17.0.3. The company clarified that the new titanium design of the iPhone 15 Pro is not the cause of the overheating problems and that the update won't reduce performance to address the temperature concerns.
Some third-party apps, like Asphalt 9, Instagram, and Uber, were found to overload the system, but fixes are being worked on in collaboration with the app developers. Apple assured there's no safety risk to users and no long-term performance impact, with the update expected soon.

Hmm, turns out they weren't lying...
According to kingsyj at X, IIT Madras Pravartak wasn't lying about the fork being "BharOS" because the GrapheneOS fork by Sadhasiva was actually "SenaOS".
The Armed Forces now have a modern network built exclusively for them under the Network for Spectrum deal.
SenaOS' boot animation (attached in this post) is a combination of BharOS and the crossed sword from the Indian army Insignia. Also, "PTF" in the boot animation represents "Pravartak Technologies Foundation.
There are concerns that if the Indian Army proceeds with this SenaOS fork as their default mobile OS, it could put national security at risk in various ways.
