Xiaomi smartphones offer the Worst Charging Solution
You may have seen Xiaomi smartphones failing to boot/charge after battery goes to 0%
Even the flagship Mi 13 Ultra with its 90W charger or mid-rangers like the Poco F5 does NOT charge at all but charges through PC/Laptop or using a 5W charger
Internally this problem is known as "PD Handshake not completing" (Although it did NOT even go to the handshake point) & occurs only when using a Xiaomi stock charger (30W+) & cable
Xiaomi cables are NOT PD certified but instead are PD compliant and they even implement DRM on their cable 💀 which is being managed via a binary called "batterysecret"
Here's what basically happens:
The phone tries to boot as a "charger" boot target, but since the voltage is too low, it's in blackout mode
Since there's literally NO pumping going on, it simply runs in normal USB power supply mode, which is basically the same as it is connected to a laptop and waiting for it to even get 1%
Since the phone does NOT reach userspace, there's absolutely NO way for it to start authentication at all ({ANDROIDBOOT_ROOT}/vendor/bin/batterysecret), it's not even a bootloader-level problem, it's handled in "android" itself
Another issue is that the Xiaomi charger is "extremely" slow to respond, causing USB collapse to happen that is disabled in the kernel but NOT in UEFI
Thus it causes constant USB disconnect & the phone NEVER charges
Xiaomi-PD is literally renamed PPS because Xiaomi could NOT afford to pay for certification & it is NOT USB PD certified either
While this problem is "kinda" fixed in the Xiaomi 14 series, older devices will NOT get a QoL update for this issue

Apple to pay $490 million in lawsuit claiming Tim Cook defrauded shareholders by concealing iPhone demand fall
Apple has settled a class-action lawsuit for $490 million, alleging CEO Tim Cook concealed declining iPhone demand in China, resulting in a $9 billion revenue forecast slash due to U.S.-China trade tensions in January 2019. Pending approval from U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, the settlement covers investors who bought shares two months before Cook's comments about China's market outlook. The case is In re Apple Inc Securities Litigation, No. 19-02033, in the Northern District of California.
The settlement concludes accusations that Cook misled shareholders, leading to a 10% share drop and $74 billion market value loss. Despite the substantial settlement, equivalent to under two days of Apple's net income, the company's market value has surged to over $2.6 trillion since the incident in January 2019.

Apple and Google's Gemini AI
Apple is likely working to incorporate AI features into its devices soon. The company is reportedly negotiating with Google to use its Gemini AI for future iPhones. Apple may also explore using OpenAI's ChatGPT.
This strategy would potentially use Apple's own AI models for device-based features, while partnering with companies like Google for cloud-based AI capabilities. This kind of integration isn't new – Samsung already uses Google's AI in its Galaxy phones.

US sues Apple for illegal monopoly over smartphones
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has sued Apple on the basis that the “iPhone ecosystem” is an illegal monopoly built at the expense of developers, rival phone makers, and Apple’s own customers. The lawsuit also cites Apple’s practices with Apple Watch, FaceTime, browsers, advertising, and news offerings.
Key points of the lawsuit include:
• Disrupting “super apps” that encompass “many different programs”
• Blocking cloud-streaming apps (which Apple has since reversed course on)
• “Suppressing” the quality of messaging between iPhone and other platforms such as Android
• Limiting the functionality of third-party smartwatches on iPhone and making it harder to switch from iPhone if you own an Apple Watch
• Blocking third-party tap-to-pay wallet apps on iPhone.

Multibooting Windows Vista with a newer version of Windows of UEFI!
Many people assume that Windows 8 was the first version of Windows to ship UEFI support. However, that is NOT true. Windows Vista RTM didn't have support for it, however, the first service pack update added support for class-2 UEFI. That's good and all, and it even works well... however... one small issue... you can't multi-boot it with another windows version! Yep, it even includes Windows 7! Although, you can multi-boot it with... say, Linux, but not another version of Windows. I've been searching around this for a year or so, recently, I found a solution to it!

XP Aero is a Windows mod that overhauls the entire XP interface. From the setup to the UI, it's a mod aimed to bring the Aero feel from Vista and 7 to XP, while still retaining the luna feel. It backports gadgets, it has Vista styled Windows Media Player, changes the setup, the explorer and what not!
As soon as you enter the out of box setup, you'll notice that the video has been changed. Moreover, you'll see that... well, the entire setup looks more beautiful! The mod utilises Segoe UI font. It has a sick boot animation, it has sidebar...it has a few new themes....oh my, it's quite a lot...
...But, there's even more. To make the base mod not seem bloaty, all the extras have been seperated into an ultimate extra like pack. It adds games like Microsoft Tinkerer, it adds new themes, it adds more things than the numbers my 1 IQ self can count.
It's a must-try mod that is definitely worth checking out.

Nintendo might not have to sue to shut down Switch emulators
GitLab just took down the Suyu emulator and disabled its developers' accounts after receiving a DMCA takedown request. It's unclear if Nintendo is behind this specific takedown.
GitLab didn't clarify if it typically disables accounts before users can address a DMCA issue. Its handbook doesn't detail reasons for account bans, only that it may happen in "appropriate circumstances". The Suyu project seems determined to continue, with the code already cloned elsewhere.
