Twitter has officially adopted X.com for all its core systems. That means typing twitter.com in your browser will now redirect to X.com

A message also now appears at the bottom of the X login page that reads, “We are letting you know that we are changing our URL, but your privacy and data protection settings remain the same.”

Want to block Google AI Overviews? This is how you can do it

Note: This is for PCs only

Here, we change the search engine's URL so that it opens the "Web" filter instead of "All" in Google

• Go to chrome://settings/searchEngines for Chromium-based browsers, and
• Go to about:preferences#search for Firefox
• Click on "Add" to add a new search engine, which is the custom URL in this case.
• Fill the following:
• Name: Google - Web (or anything else)
• Shortcut: google.com (or anything else)
• URL: https://google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s (you can change the domain according to your region if you want to, like google.in or google.au)
• Now, set it as the default search engine.

Here's how this works:
• The custom URL that we are using includes ?udm=14 which opens the Web filter, and %s is the query that you type in the "Search or Enter address" bar.
• You can try this URL as an example: https://google.com/search?udm=14&q=is+chrome+the+worst+browser+ever%3F

Tesla vs Tesla: US carmaker sues Indian namesake for copying trademark

Elon Musk's carmaker Tesla has sued an Indian battery maker for infringing its trademark by using the brand name "Tesla Power" to promote its products, seeking damages and a permanent injunction against the company from a New Delhi judge.

Tesla in a hearing said the Indian company had continued advertising its products with the "Tesla Power" brand despite a cease-and-desist notice sent in April 2022.

During the hearing, the Indian company, Tesla Power India Pvt Ltd, argued that its main business is to make "lead acid batteries" and does not intend to make electric vehicles.

Project Elixir, despite its promise of a customizable and better Android experience, presents significant risks that users should be aware of.

A post from @TheNotesOfJosh on X/Twitter, he reported that there's a malicious code that prevents people to use their pro features and leads to something worse, "... this code is set to wipe your data, your internal storage, your external storage, and if you have any, your ESIMs too. The conditions to trigger this code are to try enabling paywalled custom Android features." They recently changed their ways to make it even more unusable.

And the fact that they didn't even make a post on their announcements channel regarding this change makes it even worse. It can trigger all android users already.

A side note; we are not spreading dramas, or even spreading false information, this post was made to spread the awareness. The receipts you'll see inside the post are enough to avoid them. If you need more details, check the full thread.

Well, important announcement!

It's been a good time having you guys in the community for the last two years. And I'm very thankful to all the users who have supported us every time when we needed.

We have already apologised, but people doesn't get our point and it's fine. You are free to spread misinformation.

For now project is being closed completely for public release for indefinite time.

Akane Foundation's Accord: Gramophone but Apple

Inspired by Apple Music's clean and user-friendly design, Accord Music Player is a fork of the Gramophone music player app created by Akane Foundation. The user-interface is similar to that of Apple Music.

It has all the basic features that allow users to easily browse, play, and manage their music library. It supports synced lyrics as well!

Humane looking to sell the company barely a month after Ai Pin release

According to “people familiar with the matter,” Humane is “seeking a buyer for its business” and in talks with a financial advisor to assist in a potential sale. It’s noted that the process is still very early, but that Humane is looking for a sale between $750 million and $1 billion.

It should come as no surprise that the startup is looking to sell itself to a larger company, but the speed at which this is happening seems especially quick.

Apple is challenging the €1.8 billion antitrust fine related to a Spotify complaint

This March Apple was hit with a massive €1.8 billion fine ($2B) over a complaint initially filed by Spotify back in 2019. The complaint was simple – Apple is charging app makers a 30% tax when a user subscribes to their service for a year and 15% for subsequent years. That gave an unfair advantage to Apple Music over Spotify as the latter was forced to raise subnoscription costs to cover the tax.

Now, Apple has filed its own suit with the EU’s General Court in Luxembourg to try and overturn the hefty fine. Apple suggests that the European Commission didn’t provide credible evidence that consumers were harmed by its App Store policies.

Microsoft Bing issue takes down Copilot, DuckDuckGo, and ChatGPT search features

Search capabilities for ChatGPT, Copilot, DuckDuckGo, and other platforms aren't working properly right now due to a Microsoft outage that appears to be related to the Bing application programming interface (API).

This issue began around 3 AM ET, and Microsoft has acknowledged the loading issues with its Copilot service, saying it’s “working to isolate the cause of the issue.”

X is hiding likes to encourage ‘edgy’ engagement

X is taking away the ability to see what posts other users have liked. It’s a change meant to protect users’ public image — because “many people feel discouraged” to like “edgy” content.

X senior software engineer Enrique Barragan chimed in to clarify:
- you will be able to see who liked your posts
- you can see the like count for all posts / replies / etc
- you cannot see the people who liked someone else’s post
- you cannot see others “Liked” tab on their profile

Sam Altman Is Showing Us Who He Really Is

• Scarlett Johansson declined Altman’s offer to voice Sky in September.
• The demo’s voice strongly resembled Johansson’s, sparking public and legal backlash.
• OpenAI paused Sky’s use and Altman issued an apology, asserting no intention to mimic Johansson.
• Also, Altman faced temporary ousting by the board in November for alleged dishonesty and rapid development without safety considerations.
• The board shakeup led to key resignations, including co-founder Ilya Sutskever.
• OpenAI is embroiled in lawsuits over unauthorized use of copyrighted material for training models.
• Recent reports suggest OpenAI's Sora model may have been trained on YouTube videos without permission
• The SEC is also investigating potential misinformation to investors by OpenAI.

All these events at OpenAI calls into question Altman's leadership and the integrity of the company.
