All saints' Day
From the 8th century onwards, the connection between Easter and the "Lord's Day of All Saints" gradually faded, so that it was first celebrated in Ireland on November 1st. Easter was no longer in the foreground, but the passing nature: at the beginning of November, winter and the New Year began in Ireland. Irish missionaries brought the new Feast of All Saints to the continent in the 9th century. The date of All Saints' Day also fits into the dead month of November because the living Christian knows that he is connected to the dead through Jesus Christ. The visible transience in the surrounding nature sensitizes people to the transience of the earthly world. This opens up a view of the afterlife and the role models for it: All the saints.
