Preparing for takeoff, two AH-64 pilots 🇺🇸 begin powering on and running up the aircraft before a test flight here in Afghanistan.
Apache lives on with the introduction of the new AH-64E V6 which features increased detection range for the Longbow fire control radar including enhanced maritime capabilities for hunting surface vessels, as well as enhanced UAS detection and targeting capabilities. The Version 6 upgrade also adds an engine first limit indicator, a modernized rocket launcher system, and a modernised radar frequency interferometer to provide passive geolocation of emitting radar threats, and an extended range and expanded bandwidth manned-unmanned teaming datalink capacity, among other features. Boeing and US Foreign Military Sales have hinted at potentially offering the AH-64E V6 to the Australian Army Air Corps as a replacement for it's current fleet of Airbus Tiger attack helicopters.
