『HARDWARE ROMANCE』
I can't believe i forgot to make this post on the 1st! it's around 3 and a half weeks till Christmas, and since it's the season for Christmas songs, carols and whatnot, let me give you some REAL fuckin Christmas classics up in here You know Dancemania? the…
this is the ONLY way you're gonna get me to listen to the "Christmas songs that talk about anything and everything except actually Christmas" in any capacity, truth be told.
Is it any wonder that none of the (((authors))) of those songs were Christian? Kind of makes you think.

It's an unbelievably sunny day today. As much as i usually dislike autumn and winter, today really is pleasant and cozy.
I think i'm going for a walk soon. But first, a music post fitting the mood: today you're getting something more akin to Actual Music™ instead of the flurry of "arguably just simple fun" music i normally would post.
Today you get Laraaji's Ambient 3: Day of Radiance, produced by none other than Brian Eno.
Brian Eno is one of the few musicians of our time that really needs no introduction, and for fans of purely-instrumental music, neither do the Ambient 1-4 series. Music for Airports is another big favorite of mine.
This album was my introduction to Laraaji. I mean, it was for most people, it's his first album under that name (1980!); if you were to argue this was his best work, you could probably get away with it. From someone improvising music in a park, to working with one of the most renowned musicians in the modern era and becoming a big name in the ambient and then new age genre: it really is quite amazing.
The 3D soundscape effect that Eno worked to achieve with the production of this album works extremely well with the dreamy, ethereal sound that the dulcimer strings produce, and it results in one of the most colorful, peaceful and enjoyable albums i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. It's like i'm transported in a small cabin in the mountains, looking into the distance from the porch into a distant, immaculate landscape, bathed in the golden hues of a late afternoon still youthful enough to allow the luxury of quiet observation, and to focus on the passing breeze as to intimately understand its aroma and commit it to memory, preserved as a keepsake for a day in which you will undoubtedly need to recall it, for better or for worse. Listening to and passively hearing music are two obviously different things.
I really do think people in general dedicate their efforts to improving music tastes, music collections to the point of hoarding (i mean, i'm guilty of that too) and even music setups to listen to it better, but hardly anyone i've known so far really dedicates much thought to the process of properly enjoying music and focusing on it. Some may even say that music is very much alike what psychedelics can give you, and considering how important the set and setting rule is for both, i'm inclined to agree.
This of course doesn't apply to all music, especially what is being touted as such in the mainstream/popular scene, since i wouldn't dare give it the definition of "music" to begin with, let alone "art", but i digress. You get my point.
Further on the last point, this is one i really wish i had the vinyl of. Vinyl shines best with analog music, not the techno stuff, for obvious reasons. I can attest to the difference in sound quality and warmth when you listen to analog format, and besides, who doesn't like small rituals? Just setting it up, cleaning the record, and then listening to it without interruption is by itself a pleasure that really melds well with bright, pleasant instrumental songs. But lossless may just be good enough.
It really is the perfect album for a sunny winter day.
I get to choose the album, you get to choose the hot drink that accompanies it, deal?
Have a great Saturday.

the covers for the ambient albums i also really like
on another note, i can't believe how many old kino anime the people at nendoroid are dusting off for their new figures. I just kind of wish it wasn't just nendos /popup parades, they're cute but they're not as pretty as actual scale figures
that said, i might cop this one just because it's from Saber Marionette J like i did with the Lain one.
Lime is great..
