'The Oval Portrait' is a story by Edgar Allan Poe involving the circumstances surrounding a portrait. It is one of his shortest stories, filling only 2 pages in its publication in April 1842. The story inspired elements in 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde
