I realize these are strong words. And that is how I feel about the sentiments expressed by most of these signs. And gratitude swells in me for people who show up *with love* to rallies like this.

I count myself among them.

I wish the experience were easier, simpler, kinder. As humans we are capable of so much more than the misplaced aggression into which these demonstrations sometimes devolve.

And I’m not talking about our very valid reasons for rage.

I’m speaking to when we lose sight of our shared humanity and fall for the team-sport political divisions that benefit those in power and make us less free.

We all do it. Self-awareness is a process and a practice, not an achievement or a destination.

And at this point, if it’s not uniting us, then it’s distracting us.

So put that on your sign. Hold it high like the love that calls to your heart. And keep showing up.
