"For doesn't he himself[Deleuze] state that aberrant movements carry us toward what is unthinkable in thought, unlivable in life, immemorial in memory, constituting the limit or the "transcendental object" of each faculty? That is what is specifically aberrant about them: they exceed the empirical exercise of the faculties and force each faculty to go beyond itself toward an object with which it is exclusively concerned but which it attains only at the limit of itself."
~D. Lapoujade

"Few people have given me the impression as he did of moving at each moment; not changing, but moving in his entirety with the aid of a gesture he was making of a word which he was saying, of a vocal sound, like a kaleidescope forming a new combination evey time. Always the same Felix, yet one whose proper name denoted something which was happening, and not a subject. Felix was a man of the group, of bands or tribes, and yet he is a man alone, a desert populated by all these groups and all his friends, all his becomings."
~G. Deleuze

"The Being is like a confinement that blinds us to the wealth and the multivalence of the Universes of value, which, however, proliferate before our sight. There is an ethical choice in favor of the wealth of the possible, an ethics and a politics of the virtual that disembodies, deterritorializes contingency, linear causality, the weight of the states of affairs and the meanings that beset us. A choice of processuality, irreversibility and re-singularization. These folding networks can be operated on a small scale according to the mode of enclosure, poverty and even catastrophe in neurosis. You can borrow reactive religious references. You can be overwhelmed in alcohol, drugs, television, daily life without horizon. It can also borrow other procedures, more collective, more social, more political."
~F. Guattari

Conjugate deterritorialized flows. Follow the plants: you start by delimiting a first line consisting of circles of convergence around successive singularities; then you see whether inside that line new circles of convergence establish themselves, with new points located outside the limits and in other directions. Write, form a rhizome, increase your territory by deterritorialization, extend the line of flight to the point where it becomes an abstract machine covering the entire plane of consistency. "Go first to your old plant and watch carefully the watercourse made by the rain. By now the rain must have carried the seeds far away. Watch the crevices made by the runoff, and from them determine the direction of the flow. Then find the plant that is growing at the farthest point from your plant. All the devil's weed plants that are growing in between are yours. Later... you can extend the size of your territory by following the watercourse from each point along the way."

"Deleuze is true to his insistence that concepts are responses to problems. His concepts of philosophy and literature responded to a particular problem: why does thinking limit itself to banal and puerile cases? Deleuze creates a specific concept of literature. Literature does not refer to books or literary studies; it allows us to think of a way of stretching language to its limits. Deleuze’s created concept of philosophy refers to a capacity to think differently. Deleuze therefore creates a concept of philosophy that rejuvenates what we usually understand by the word philosophy. So the concept of ‘philosophy’ for Deleuze allows us to think against the normal or recognised cases of thinking."

Gilles Deleuze by Claire Colebrook (Routledge Critical Thinkers)
