There is only one thing that separates smart from dumb people.

And that’s the attention to detail.

A bit of curiosity coupled with an analytical mind when needed.

And honestly?

Everyone has that.

It’s nothing special.

But your brainpower is limited, if you spend it on trivial thoughts and overthinking simple things you won’t have enough of it when situations call for it.

Question. Notice. Deconstruct. Restructure. Conclude. Experiment. That’s how you train your mind.

I might be wrong but I strongly believe everyone has what it takes to be smart.

As long as your attention is directed towards the right things.

If you don’t learn to stand your ground, you will keep inviting predatory motherfuckers into your life subconsciously.

Those people prey on people who “allow” things to happen; they look for people who will let them overstep without resistance.

Being uncompromising isn’t about being reactive.

Far from that.

It’s about being proactive and setting the standards for how people should behave around you.

You’ve probably heard and read about “reacting” versus “responding”.

The truth is that the best way to respond is to make it look like a reaction.

Not every situation calls for a calm and thoughtful response.

Sometimes you have to make it look like an anger fueled emotional reaction.

Leveraging the seeming anger to make a point and draw a line.

Because most people, especially the ill intentioned one, tend to ignore the calm response but understand the emotional reaction.

Use that in your favor.

And when other predatory idiots see that, they stay away from you.

Because they know and realize that their bullshit will not be tolerated around you.

You will always crave validation if your self-image is not validated.

You will always behave in ways you end up regretting if your motivation is external.

If you do what you do to live up to other people's standards, you're a puppet in someone else's play.

The worst part?

That someone else might not even be aware of it.

So really all you're doing is manipulating yourself with false expectations and lies that you made up.

The truth?

Social desirability is an innate need of ours.

We're human and we need to socialize properly.

But we were taught that pleasing people and being liked by conforming and complying to social demands was the way.

That's wrong.

You can be socially desirable, likable and genuinely appreciated without seeking approval.

You need two things:

- A validated self-image (a strong ego)
- Proper social skills

You can easily navigate any social scenario this way and without ever compromising on your own values, never betraying yourself and acting in ways you'd later regret.

Detach yourself from people's judgement and they'll judge you favorably.

Be a try-hard and they'll hate you for it.

I'll explain how in my next email.

Always think in terms of how things serve you.

Your mental space is much more limited than you think.

If you fill your mind with unnecessary thoughts, it will wander and get nowhere.

The key to focus is keeping priorities in sight and assessing situations depending on how they serve you both long and short term.

You don’t want to be a victim of your own distraction.

You don’t want to waste your time and energy on things that do not add anything to your life.

Does it serve your short-term interest?

No: Forget about it.

Yes: Does it serve your long term interest?

No: Forget about it.

Yes: Go for it.

If your actions serve both long and short term?

You’re winning in life.

Anything else is a waste of time.

And time is the one thing you don’t have.

Your life is ending one second at a time; make the most of it.

Old ways don't open new doors.

You cannot expect different results by making the same mistakes over and over again.

At some point you must change your ways.

You must acknowledge what you do wrong, learn the lesson and head toward a new direction with your newfound knowledge.

You can learn from your own mistakes.
You can learn from the mistakes of others.
You can learn from your own successes.
You can learn from the successes of others.

The lessons are abundant and everywhere if you simply pay more attention.

You won't break the cycle if you refuse to do things differently.

One of the definitions of intelligence is actually being able to adapt to different situations.

And those different situations?

That's every day.

If your days feel like copies of each other?

You're going down the road of regrets and unfulfillment.

You don't want that and I don't want that for you.

I'll tell you exactly how to break these cycles on my next email.

“A child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth”

Understand this.

On the deepest of levels.

You do not need to be accepted by others, they need to understand the importance or the danger you represent.

The importance in terms of potential you can bring out of them.

The danger in terms of detriment you can bring upon them.

Warmth is a good thing.

It feels good.
It feels comfortable.

Burning down is the complete opposite.

It’s the end.
It’s a slow death.

Once you understand this.

You understand the world needs you more than you do.

You control it.

It’s all in your control.

More than you think.

You will regret not being aggressive enough.

You will look back and see all the opportunities you missed out on because you hesitated, doubted yourself or simply held yourself back.

I say aggressive and not violent.

Aggressive in the pursuit of what you want.
Aggressive in your action-taking process.
Aggressive in your decision-making.

I say aggressive in the sense of active.

As in fast, intense and action driven.

You'll learn much more from this than passively waiting for things to happen.

You either make things happen or things happen to you.
You either make life happen or life happens to you.

You do not get where you want by endlessly scheming, observing and noticing.

There is a time for that.

But it's marginal.

Most of your time should be allocated to doing, building and creating.

The faster you move, the faster you get there.
The more passive you are, the more you miss out.

Be open to more experiences.
Be open to taking a little more risks.

Instead of worrying about consequences, do the thing then handle the consequences.

One of my favorite ways of handling my worries is simply telling myself this:

"It's not a problem yet, so I'll think about it when it becomes one."

And guess what?

Most of what you worry about never happens.

Be pragmatic.

Stop overthinking and over worrying.

Handle what's at hand not what you think MAY OR MAY NOT happen.
