Iran and the Illusion of Collapse

What is unfolding in Iran today cannot be understood through a short video clip, a breaking headline, or an emotionally charged political statement.

The reality is far more complex. It is a layered scene in which difficult economic reforms intersect with a deliberate war of perception, and where limited protests are amplified by external actors seeking to impose an image far larger than the facts on the ground.

The starting point of the recent unrest was not political in the classical sense, but fundamentally economic.

The protests that emerged in parts of Tehran’s bazaar, triggered by the rise of the U.S. dollar, followed a sensitive economic decision that successive governments had long avoided: the abolition of the so-called “preferential exchange rate.”

Over time, this mechanism had become a gateway for corruption, rent-seeking, and monopolization, benefiting powerful networks while distorting the economy.

President Pezeshkian’s decision did not target the poor, despite claims to the contrary.

Instead, it severed a vital artery for interest groups that thrived on the gap between the subsidized dollar and the free market rate.

When such channels of profit are closed, these networks often turn to the street, using protest as a pressure tool rather than an expression of popular hardship.

It is precisely at this point that the external factor entered the scene.

The United States and the Israeli entity—emerging from the so-called twelve-day war without meaningful strategic gains—were quick to seize upon any internal development that could be exploited.

They did not create the spark, but they rushed to invest in it, attempting to replicate familiar scenarios:
— exaggerating the crisis;
— spreading a sense of fragility;
— and convincing audiences that the Islamic Republic is on the brink of collapse.

Yet the facts contradict the narrative: the scale of current protests remains significantly smaller than those following the 2009 elections and clearly more limited than the unrest after the Mahsa Amini case.

What has changed is not the size of the protests, but the way they are managed and presented in the media.

This time, the media campaign is not operating from the margins, but from the top.

Trump himself has played a direct role in escalating the rhetoric, recycling collapse narratives, and flooding platforms with selectively edited images designed to manufacture a mental reality ahead of the actual one.

This is a textbook case of perceptual warfare. Localized protests are framed as a nationwide uprising, isolated acts of vandalism are portrayed as total insecurity, and economic grievances are repackaged as political rebellion.

The objective is not immediate regime change, but the erosion of Iran’s image in the consciousness of its people and the region.

The paradox is that this strategy rests on a recurring miscalculation: treating Iran as a fragile, exhausted state while ignoring the structure of its society, its historical memory, and a state system that has repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to absorb shocks without descending into chaos.

Iran today is neither in comfortable stability nor in uncontrolled collapse. It stands in a position of active defense—undertaking painful internal reforms under intense external pressure, while fighting a battle over meaning before it ever reaches the streets.

Confusing noise with an earthquake, or images with reality, remains the oldest illusion of all.

Political science professor, Dr. Sheikh Sadiq Al-Nabulsi posted on X:

The United States wages a psychological and ideological war by sowing despair among the oppressed through several strategies:

——> Compelling vulnerable nations to believe that resisting American influence is futile—a falsehood, plain and simple.

——> Overemphasizing the architecture of American hegemony, presenting it as an immutable structure—an entirely misleading notion.

——> Accepting the premise that the United States dictates every global equation—forgetting that it is not the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth.

Yet history reminds us: the United States is far from invincible. Every oppressive empire has, in time, risen and inevitably fallen. The arc of history favors resilience, justice, and those who dare to resist.

An excerpt from the will of Martyr Qasem Soleimani (ra)

My mujahid brothers and sisters in this world—O you who have lent your heads to God, who have taken your lives in the palms of your hands and come to the marketplace of love to offer them for sale—pay heed: the Islamic Republic is the center of Islam and Shi‘ism.

Today, the headquarters of Husayn ibn ‘Ali is Iran.

Know that the Islamic Republic is a sanctuary (ḥaram), and if this sanctuary remains, the other sanctuaries will remain.

But if the enemy destroys this sanctuary, no sanctuary will remain—neither the Abrahamic sanctuary nor the Muhammadan sanctuary (peace be upon him).

My brothers and sisters!

The Islamic world is always in need of leadership—a leadership that is connected to, and religiously and jurisprudentially appointed by, the Infallible.

You know well that the purest religious scholar, who shook the world and revived Islam—our great and pure Khomeini—made Wilayat al‑Faqih the sole salvific prenoscription for this Ummah.

Therefore, whether you believe in it as Shi‘a on religious grounds, or you believe in it as Sunnis on rational grounds, know that—free from all discord—you must not abandon the tent of Wilayah if Islam is to be saved.

This tent is the tent of the Messenger of God.

The very foundation of the world’s enmity toward the Islamic Republic is the desire to set this tent ablaze and demolish it.

Circle around it.

By God, by God, by God: if this tent is harmed, the Sacred House of God, Medina—the sanctuary of the Messenger of God—Najaf, Karbala, Kazimayn, Samarra, and Mashhad will not remain; the Qur’an itself will be harmed.

Fotros Resistance (AryJeay)
🇮🇷| Leader of Iran, Imam Khamenei: This nation does not tolerate being a mercenary for foreigners. Whoever you think you are, once you become a foreign mercenary and work for foreigners, the nation will reject you, and the Islamic Republic will reject you…
This Leader, unparalleled among the leaders of the world, possesses the courage to confront the criminal Donald Trump.

Washington dangled before Iran billions of dollars—funds surpassing the combined wealth of all Arab states in the region—but Sayyed Ali Khamenei rejected them outright!!

The demand was clear, then as now: submission to the Zionist entity and surrender to Washington in exchange for material gain.

While many in the Arab world remained silent, capitulated, or bowed before the American oppressor, Iran stood firm.

It steadfastly supported the Resistance across Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon.

Regardless of what unfolds in the coming days and weeks, the Supreme Leader will endure as a towering figure in history.

In an age marked by obsequiousness before a criminal, a killer, and a pedophile, this Leader stood resolute—sacrificing everything he possesses and everything held dear by his noble people—and declared: No, we will not kneel!

This is the essence of true principles: to uphold values in a world increasingly stripped of them, to resist coercion and corruption, and to remain unwavering in the face of threats and temptations.

History will remember that in a time of moral decay and widespread submission, one Leader refused to yield, embodying the courage, integrity, and honor that define a nation that chooses dignity over compromise.

Few martyrs’ wills are complete without a steadfast affirmation of allegiance to the Islamic Revolution and its leaders:

"And let it be inscribed upon my tomb, in Persian and Arabic: This is the grave of Anis Jaber, the Lebanese, who loved Imam Khomeini (ra) with a fervor that knew no bounds, and who wept at the mere mention of his name; and it was this very love that guided him to martyrdom."

— This passage is drawn from the will of Shaheed Anis Jaber (martyred in 1982), a martyr whose devotion to Imam Khomeini was far from blind; it was a profound comprehension of the truth, depth, and moral grandeur embedded in the Imam’s personality, thought, and conduct—qualities rooted in the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Aleppo Between Two Fires: The Israeli Enemy and Turkey’s Competing Projects in Northern Syria

What is unfolding in Aleppo today is neither accidental nor detached from Syria’s long war.

Despite repeated talk of a so–called “new phase” and promises of stability, the city has once again become a focal point of violence, exposing the fragility of such claims.

Gideon Sa’ar’s warning about escalating unrest in Aleppo—framed as concern over broken Syrian commitments—reveals less about peace and more about political positioning.

The Israeli enemy has treated the events in Aleppo much as it previously treated unrest in Suwayda: as an opportunity.

Instability is not merely observed; it is invested in.

Through diplomatic rhetoric centered on minority protection and humanitarian alarmism, Tel Aviv seeks to keep Syria fragmented, weak, and permanently vulnerable to internal fractures.

Sa’ar’s call for the West to “repay its moral debt” to the Kurds fits squarely within this logic—turning a just cause into a geopolitical instrument.

At the same time, Turkey advances a parallel but intersecting project.

Ankara openly considers Aleppo and northern Syria an extension of its national security sphere.

The Turkish defense minister’s declaration of readiness to support al-Jolani’s forces confirms that Turkey views control over the north not as temporary leverage, but as a strategic necessity.

Military backing, administrative influence, and demographic reshaping are all tools in this long-term approach.

The convergence of these agendas keeps the war alive.

What began in 2011 has not ended; it has merely shifted form.

Ethnic and sectarian sorting, fueled by external powers, serves the Israeli enemy’s expansionist vision—one that thrives on division, separatism, and the erosion of central authority.

In this context, even claims about historical or cultural “heritage” in northern Syria function as political narratives rather than genuine history.

Aleppo thus stands at the intersection of two projects, both feeding a conflict designed to prevent Syria from ever becoming whole again.

Aleppo Between Two Fires: The Israeli Enemy and Turkey’s Competing Projects in Northern Syria What is unfolding in Aleppo today is neither accidental nor detached from Syria’s long war. Despite repeated talk of a so–called “new phase” and promises of stability…
What appears, at first glance, as coincidence increasingly resembles a patterned tactic.

In July, as al-Jolani traveled to Azerbaijan and held meetings with Israeli officials, events suddenly exploded in Suwayda.

The unrest did not merely erupt in parallel; it effectively buried the political significance of that visit, pushing the meeting out of public focus and media scrutiny.

The war, once again, performed its secondary function: distraction.

The same pattern repeated itself at the start of this week.

As al-Shibani met with Israeli representatives in Paris—producing what many have described as a humiliating and scandalous agreement—Aleppo was set ablaze by violent clashes.

Overnight, the narrative shifted!!

Headlines moved from diplomacy to “security developments,” from political accountability to battlefield urgency.

The outcomes of the Paris meeting were not debated; they were drowned out.

This recurring overlap is not strange!!

In prolonged conflicts, violence often becomes a political instrument, deployed not only to impose facts on the ground but also to erase uncomfortable moments from collective attention.

Escalation functions as noise, and noise conceals concessions.

In this sense, Suwayda and Aleppo are not merely arenas of unrest; they are timed ruptures in the political calendar.

Each eruption rewrites the news cycle, shielding controversial engagements with the Israeli enemy from sustained scrutiny.

What is presented as chaos may, in fact, be choreography—where war is used not only to shape territory, but to manage memory itself.

Manufactured Uprising: Visual Amplification and Coordinated Violence in Iran’s Streets

By Dr. Ali Mourad

Regarding the events of last night in #Iran, Reza #Pahlavi, the son of the deposed Shah, with the support of the United States and the Zionist regime, called for people to take to the streets at 8:00 PM Tehran time.

These gatherings, with armed and trained elements among the protesters, resulted in the deaths of several police officers due to direct gunfire in several Iranian cities, including Tehran.

These gatherings employed a tactic of visual amplification and rapid movement.

This means that a group of approximately 200 people, after committing acts of vandalism in one street, would quickly move to another, filming the vandalism with wide-angle lenses to make the scene appear widespread.

In the attached video, you can see the presence of approximately 400 people at the intersection of Vali-e-Asr Street in #Tehran, one of the main locations where the call to assemble was made. The attached image also shows the same intersection minutes after the gathering.

This approach is ongoing and is expected to continue this evening as well.
The Lie of Perfection: How Social Media’s “Success Stories” Quietly Break People

One of the most dangerous problems created by social media is not failure, but the illusion of flawless success.

Platforms are flooded with celebrated models of achievement—perfect lives, perfect bodies, perfect careers—carefully curated and endlessly repeated.

What the audience sees is only the polished surface, while everything fragile, incomplete, or broken is deliberately hidden.

What is presented as “inspiration” is often nothing more than a manufactured myth.

These figures appear whole, confident, and victorious, as if success were effortless and permanent.

Their struggles, doubts, and moments of collapse are erased. The result is not a realistic example to learn from, but a false standard—a version of perfection that does not exist in real life. Yet the follower is invited to measure themselves against it.

This is where the damage begins. The viewer tries to imitate what they see, to reach the same level of beauty, productivity, happiness, or wealth.

When they inevitably fail—as all humans do when chasing an illusion—they do not question the model.

Instead, they question themselves. Failure becomes internalized. The problem, they believe, is not the lie they were sold, but their own inadequacy.

Social media thus performs a cruel dual act: it dazzles and destroys at the same time. It excites desire while quietly cultivating frustration, envy, and self-blame.

The more perfect the image, the deeper the collapse of the person trying to live up to it.

What was meant to motivate ends up exhausting, and what was meant to inspire ends up paralyzing.

In this sense, the greatest deception is not success itself, but selective visibility—showing only the triumph while hiding the cost.

Real growth is messy, slow, and incomplete. When platforms erase this reality, they do not elevate people; they alienate them from themselves.

Breaking free begins with recognizing a simple truth: perfection online is staged.

Humanity, with all its flaws, is not failure—it is the only honest starting point.

i24 News Hebrew - Yossi Yehoshua:

Fear of miscalculation due to the first strike is increasing: Protests are escalating in Iran, and neither side wants war now, but Tehran is under pressure and fears that Israel will take advantage of the situation and launch an attack. Jerusalem announces that it will not move, but Iran does not believe it and acts accordingly. Israel is taking defensive steps, which Iran interprets as preparation for an attack. Both sides have learned from the lessons of the recent war.

Why the Threat of War Remains Uncertain by Dr. Ali Fadlallah on X:

The most important question at this stage is: Is there a war, or not?

On screens and social media, there is overwhelming chaos—but the worst part is that some people act as if the answer is already decided!

Those who possess the “golden information” most likely will remain silent, and many statements circulating are misleading.

Therefore, what can be said is the following:

In principle, when there is a lot of talk about war, the greater probability is that it will not happen, because one of the essential conditions for war—especially today—is surprise and suddenness.

The goal of exaggerating the threat of war is to try to achieve political objectives without cost, and also to weaken the opponent and his audience.

However, the rules of the game have changed, as have the rules of analysis.

Surprise can occur precisely when it is not expected.

War may begin if an opportunity arises for a targeted, strategic strike, which requires high-level security capabilities.

The will to confront is extremely strong, and this is a very important deterrent that keeps the specter of a full-scale war at bay.

What matters more than starting a war is determining its end.

At any moment, variables may emerge that change all expectations.

War is not a stroll in the park, and the arenas are interconnected.

The likelihood of a large-scale military clash rises and falls almost daily.

Caution is necessary—but far from the “fortune-telling” of some so-called analysts.

Politics is a science “finer than the atom,” as Einstein once said.
